It is believed that the damage sustained in the country, by the crops of Cotton and Rice is very great. Several persons were more or less in jured by the; falling slate, or by being thrown dovvn by the violence of the wind. but no very serious hurt was received. The Georgia Courier says, whoever may be President of the United States, A correspondent of the Charleston Cour ier, iliu?4i ateB the fallacy of this argument thus : A man in our district raised ten bales of Cotton, which he sold to a store keeper here for S30 a bale, making S500.
