V POETRY. like orient pearls at random strung. From an old Irish Paper. TBS BUBBIGAHI. One night it Mew a hurricane, The waves were mountains roll'ng, t When Barney Buntiiue lurn'd aside, And said to Billy Bowling: A stroilg north-wester's Mowing Bill! - Ah! dont you hear it roar now! Lord help 'em! how I pities all Unhappy folks -ashore now! Blow! blow! blow! " i Fool-hardy ,ehaps as lives in towns, Ahat dangers they are all in ! Andiiow they're quaking in their beds Fr f ar the roof should fall in! Poor devils! how they envies us, - And wi he. I've a notion. For our good luck, fn such a storm, To be upon the ocean! . Blow! blow! blow! - " ' Then as to them kept out all day On business from their houses. And late at night returning homo To cheer their babes and Spouses, While yoa and I upon the deck Are comfortably lying ! My eyes! what tiles and chrmney-pota About their heads are flying! Blow! blow! blow! Lord help them folks who rashly take A voyage in the stages, 1 8omepack'd on top, some 6iow'd irifide, As snug as birds in cages! Crash down they go and all are killed While when our ship won't Ion float, Without the risk of broken neck, We jump iuto the long-boat. Blow! blow! blow! And oftentimes we sailors hear How men ore kill'd or undone, By overturns in carriages. By thieves and fires in London; We've heard what risksall landsmen ran. From noblemen to tailors So Billy, let's thank Providence That you and I are sailors! Blow! blow! blow! A fellow in Virginia, who was ducked by a party of boys for whipping his wife, surd them for dama ges. The boys were very properly sentenced to duck him again. STATE OF, NORTH-CAROLINA.
