week.
The youngest child of Mr. and
Mrs. R. J. Coen died at Stovall on
the 7th.
In future the Modern Tobacco
Barn will have a down town office in
Herndon Block No. 4.
Shall Oxford have a good hotel
building ? Our capitalist will have
to answer this question.
Several gentlemen of means have
been prospecting among Granville
Iron Mines during the week.
Owing to the sickness of Rev.
R. F. Bumpass. there was no service
at the Methodist Church on Sunday
last.
We urged upon the people of
Oxford the great importance of hav
ing a first-class hotel building?and
let them unite upon some plan for the
construction of the same.
Welearn that Enoch Arden,
which was so happily rendered at the
Opera House, last week will be re
peated Monday night for the benefit
of the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Prof. Holmes, State Geologist,
had some of his assistants at Spikes
burg Iron Mines during the past
week. They were greatly surprised
at the immense quality of ore.
Quite a number of the members
of Oxford Lodge No. 103, I. O. O. F.,
attended the regular meeting of
Henry Grady Lodge at Dabney on
Saturday evening last and met with
a warm welcome.
We have fine bank buildings,

six splendid brick warehouses, stores,
commodious leaf houses, plaining
mills, residences &c. Now let us have
a first-class hotel.
Has captured another office. Mr.
T. D. Waller, of the Boardof County

is an important work.
The Sunday afternoon services
of the Y. M. C. A. are really enjoy
able and admirably conducted, we
urged all our young men, and the
old ones to attend as it will do them
good. The singing is most excellent.
We have on our table the Col

It is handsomely gotten up and con
tains a splendid portrait of noble Dr.
B. F. Dixon, with a brief sketch of
the career of this able divine.
We acknowledge the receipt of a
unique invitation in the shape of a

Armory Hall to-night, the 12th inst.
The North State has seen a pri
vate letter from Dr. Eugene Grissom
in which he says he has formed an
alliance with one of the most promi
nent and successful physicians in
Denver. He is in excellent health
and the reports published concern
ing him recently were libellous. They
evidently originated in the malice of
certain persons and had no founda
tion in fact, says the North State.
C, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1892.
The new $1000 pipe organ of the
Presbyterian Church has arrived and
has been put in the new church. It !
is a beauty and we congratulate the
noble band of ladies upon their suc
cess in securing friends enough to
purchase such a handsome instru
ment. Manager Renn says he will have
at the Opera House March 1st. a
minstrel troupe. It will no doubt
have a large house as everybody likes
to enjoy a good laugh, as these gen
tlemen of the cork are usually dis
pellers of the "blues" for the time
beinj?.
Granville Superior Court ad
journed on Thursday. The docket
was full and a large number of cases
were disposed of. As a result of the
criminal docket 4 colored men were
added to the work house. The res
pective officers of the court were very
prompt in the discharge of their
duties. Our people were favorable
impressed with his Honor Judge
Whitaker.
The Stereopticon views of the
North-west and Alaska, presented at
the Opera House on Monday and
Tuesday evening by Mr. Will ManS
ning, were especially good and highly
appreciated, showing as they did
some of the grandest scenery in the
world. Mr. Maniri ig is an old news
paper nan, but has been a resident
of the North-west and Alaska for 8
years, and explained the different
points of interest as they appeared
on the canvass.
A large and appreciative con
gregation greeted Rev. Joseph Ren
nie in the Lecture Room of the beau
tiful Presbyterian Church on Sunday
morning last. His sermon was pure
and elegant, and founded upon faith
the great bulwark of Christianity.
The church room proper is now re
ceiving the finishing touch and will
be commodious and handsome, and
this able young divine and his zeal
ous flock will ere many Sundays
worship within the magnificent
temple.
The ?iff Motel.
The plan for the new hotel has
been received and shown us by that
energetic, wide-awake and progres
sive citizen J. C. Hundley, Esq. It
is substantial as well as imposing
looking, and calls for 50 sleeping
apartments, besides a spacious din
ing room, parlors, sitting rooms and
offices. The structure will be on a
corner and front on College street as
well as Penn avenue. The entrance
to the main office will be directly on
the corner and the ladies entrance
on College street, and an entrance
on Penn Avenue for gentlemen. The
building will be 3-stories high with a
beautiful pressed brick front. The
ladies parlors will be on the second
floor. "Hotel Hundley" will be a
model of convenience, and when
built will be one of the best things
that the capitalists of Oxford have
ever done to help build up the town,
as Oxford, according to statistics, is
the healthiest place in the United
States, and the climate is unsurpass
ed. A first-class hotel will attract
larp-ft number of neoDle to
g, - i J-
spend the winter as well as the sum
mer here and be the means of draw
ing large capital to Oxford. We
urge upon our citizens the great im
portance of this enterprise and it be
hooves them to unite as one man and
assist the public-spirited J. C. Hund
ley in building the hotel. Let Ox
ford go forward.

CURES ALL, DISEASES.
Because all diseases arc
the result of fermentation
and decay, caused by living
microbes in the human
system, and whatever rem
edy will purify the blood
by removing the cause of
disease and build up the
health and strength of the
patient, is the one to use.
Radam's Miceobe Kiixeb
is nature's remedy, and is
the greatest boon ever
given to mankind, hence the spurious imitations
which follow in the path of its wonderful cures
of Consumption, Catarrh. Debility, Indigestion,
Rheumatism, Bowel, Bladder, Skin and all other
diseases which are quickly and permanently
cured by this never failing compound which has
done more for suffering humanity than all the
prescriptions of poisonous drugs, nostrums, so
called proprietary medicines, &c, all put to
gether. Decause it removes the cause of disease
and insures health. Thousands of voluntary cer
tificates of almost miraculous cures attest these
facts, and demonstrate to the world that Wm.
Radam, the Great Pioneer in his Wonderful Dis
covery, has gone far ahead of all other explorers
in scientific fields, and has demonstrated beyond
a doubt that no disease can exist without a dis
orde d system, and his superb remedy stands at
the front because it is
THE ORIGINAL AND OLD RELIABLE
Microbe Killer a palatable remedy which curea
diseases by arresting decay and placing the sys
tem in a natural and healthy condition.
Investigate the merits of this wonderful health
giving discovery which hss stood the test and
curedJthousands of all manner of disease; and be
ware of all other so-called germ or microbe de
stroyers, which are often thus advertised to sell
their otherwise worthless mixtures, and which,
are but imitators of this great wonder working
remedy.
