To-day, many grateful people know that the "sovereign remedy" is Ayer's Sarsaparilla. This powerful altera tive extirpates "the evil" by thoroughly eliminating all the strumous poison from tha Mood. Consumption, catarrh, and various other physical as well as mental maladies, have their origin m SCROFULA When hereditary, this disease manifests it self in childhood by glandular swellings, running sores, swollen joints, and general feebleness of body. Administer Ayer's Sarsa parilla on appearance of the first symptoms. " -My little girl was troubled with a painful scrofulous swelling under one of her arms. The physician being unable to effect a cure, I gave her one bottle of Ayer's Sarsaparilla, and the swelling disappeared." W. F. Kennedy, McFarland's, Va. ' I was cured of scrofula by the use of Ayer's Sarsaparilla." J. C. Berry, Deerfield, Mo. " I was troubled with a sore hand for over two years. It is reported .that the traveling expenses ot a Third party ite irom Virginia, who recently made speeches in Granville county, was paid by two Republicans. u. wrignt cc i;o. nave re moved their stock of general mer chandise from the Williams building to the store room in Cozart block formerly occupied by Q. E. Rawls. It is Cozart who is in a boat and bound for Salt river, while our can- didate is Orews-incr in peaceful waters under smiling skies, his course clear and smooth to the haven. Capt, A. S. Peace's name was up before the Third party State con vention for lieutenant governor. Cobb the successful man, got 328 yotes, Peace was second best with 83 votes. The roster of the ex-Confederate soldiers in camp at Wrightsville this week includes the names of three of our countyinen, viz : J. B. V. Tun stall, G 23d; W. C. Peed, D 30th; H. Eakes, K 55th. What else would you call the Third party than a "Republican Aid Society," wfien Republicans pay the expenses of Third party speakers to come into the county and talk against Democracy? A prescription for voters: Take pure Democracy, and throw the vile mixture of Third partyism and Re publicanism out of the window, as it is not only nauseating but fatal to good government. The Republicans of this town ship met in the courthouse Saturday night and organized a campaign club. Only one white man took part in the meeting. Several Dem ocratic spectators were politely in vited to leave the room. How the mighty (or mitety?) have fallen ! The same men who ran for county offices on the Demo cratic ticket some years ago and were defeated by the colored voters, are now virtually down on their knees pleading for the votes of these same colored men. But the "sixty acres of land" fake and the pathetic tale of mud will not fool the now- claimed negro friend and brother. N. C, FRIDAY, At) GUST 19, 1892. Situation wanted as teacher by a young lady. See advertisement. Two mad dogs were killed at MinorVMill on Friday we learn from Mr. A. Barnett who dropped in to see us Saturday. One of the old timers of Tall' Ho township, Mr. L. Y. Jones, who has reached his 73rd year, never own ed a watch or pistol. We call attention to the adver tisement announcing the day of the opening of the school of thataceora plished teacher, Mrs. J. A.Stradley at "Stovall. Ihe Democratic road is the only straight road. Don't stray ' . j. i 1 1 t -i u-oin u into uarK ana dangerous by-paths. "Keep in the middle of the road!" From all the information we can gather and from our own observa tion in travelling through somepor- tion of Granville, there will not be f more than a half of tobacco and corn made on account, of the drought. Rev. Dr. A. G, McManawav, of Charlotte, editor of the North Caro- lina Baptist, preached two very fine sermons at the Baptist Church Sun- day morning and night. All who heard him are lavish in their praise. -A magniffcen cymnasium, is being put up m the Horner School by the Marragansett Machine Com- pany or rrovmence, JC. 1. Mr. Willoughby Reade has been employ- ed as instructor in gymnastics and elocution. Mr. E. C. Harris, of Fishing oree.K, is not so mucli on raising Irish potatoes, but he is a hummer on big squash. He pulled one a few days ago that measured 40 inches round, 20 inches long, and weighed half dried 32i pounds. A. J. Yancy, ot Oak Hill, and A. F. Smith, of Tally Ho, request us to deny the charge that they have turned over to the enemy, the Peo ple's party. They say that they are true Alliancemen, but in favor of Democracy and white supremacy The colored men positively will not vote for Third party candidates. The white radicals are making the Third ites believe so, but they are acting the parts of wily deceivers. The Republicans will have a county ticket in the field and the colored voters will as usual support it. It turns out that Republicans pulled the wires at the Third Party State Convention and captured all the nomination for State officers except one. This is reform with a vengeance ! No need now for the Republicans to nominate a State ticket ! They have one already ! Mr. Cog Hampton, a prosperous farmer near Hampton, who was thrown from his cart some days ago and narrowly escape serious injury is out again but still nurseing some severe bruises. W. E. Nevils, of Grissoms who fared the same fate, is getting around on crutches, on ac- count of a severe sprain given his 1 right leg. The severe gash over one of his eyes is healing up.
