The love-charui still lingers, the last link to the old days of ignorance and supersti tion when charms were believed to be pow erful to cure disease and defeat death. The day ot charms is gone, although some sweet "miss now and again procures a love charm, not know ing that the great est love charm of all is the beauty of perfect health. And t li l s charm is in reach of every woman. When from the drains caused by feminine disorders, girls lose the beau ty of form and fair n e s s of face which men admire, they may cure the trouble and renew strength and beauty by the use of Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescrip tion. It overcomes all the ills peculiar to women. It imparts strength to delicate organs, stops the drains that sap vitality, restores the color to the cheek and round ness to the form. It brings health back and health itself is beauty. It is impossi ble for the face to be fair or the figure shapely if there are pains, irregularities, displacements, drains, or weakness in the organs of womanhood "I had female weakness very badly," writes Mrs. O. S. Adams, ot Fargo, Cass Co., rf. Dak " I hail to le in bed part ot the tune. A town, to be prosperous and growing, must have manufacturing industries. Such industries are the foundation towards the upbuilding of a town. It is easy for a com munity to acquire professional and business men, merchants, mechanics and laborers for these are looking mt for live communities, where they may find profitable employment in their various avocations. For every industry employing a number of people, these people have to have their proportional part of services of business and professional men. Every new industry gotten up in Kinston that will give employment to people means a permanent en largement of the town. It is main ly by starting new industries and enlarging old ones that a town en joys a healthy growth. Kinston tree 1'ress. Mrs. Tavlor, wife of Dr. Richard P. Taylor, of Louisville, Ivy., is missing. She is supposed to have lost her mind under the preaching of liev. C li. btrouse on sanctihca tion. She is said to be a very hand some, brilliant and almost learned woman. She was a devout Catholic and joined the new holiness Metho dism. Her husband otters a reward of $500 for information concerning her. A Thousand Tongues. Could not express the rapture of Annie E. Springer, of 1125 Howard St., Phil adelphia, l a., when she found that Dr 1 inga new JNew Discovery for Consum ption had completely cured her ot a hack ing cough that for many years had made life a burden. All other remedies and doctors could give her no help, but she says 01 this Koyal Cure "it soon remov ed the pain in my chest and I can now sleep soundly, something 1 can scarcely remember doing before. I feel every one who tries Dr. King's New Discovery for any trouble of the 1 hroat, Chest or Lungs. Price r0c. and $1.00. Trial bot tles free at J. G. Halls Drug Store; every bottle guranteed. THE PLEA OF THE POLYQAMIST. The Wilmington Messenger says: Of course the Utah polygamist ex pects to take his seat. But the question is, will he hold it? We think this not probable. It would be disgraceful if he did. For a fel low to take a seat in the United States Congress living openly with four women he calls wives, would be a stench in the nostrils of de cency and an outrage upon all pre tentions to morality. Suppose the congress was composed of members all with from two to a half dozen wives, wherein would they differ from the Mohammedans with their harems? Roberts the yery "much married men" from Bringham Young's former domininons, is per suaded in his own. mine, but he can retain his seat and because there is no legal or constitutional carriers to it He pretends to believe that the aw ending polygamous marriages was prospective and not retrospec tive that it applied to the future and not to the past. But the poly gamist is said to have taken a new and younger wife to himself since the enactment of the law, or, he calls it a compact between the state or Utah and the United States. As a cure for rheumatism Chamber lain's Pain Balm is gaining a wide rep utation. D. B. Johnston of Richmond, Ind., has been troubled with that ailment since 1862. In speaking of it he says: "I never found anything that would re lieve me until I used Chamberlain's Pain Balm. It acts like magic with me. Mv foot was swollen and paining me very much, but one good application of Pain Balm relieved me. For sale by J. G. 11 all. Medicines, patent medicines and everything else kept in a well arranged drug store can be found at Hancock's. Old Schools in Granville. Prof. K. P. Battle, of the Univer sity of North Carolina, has been do ing a useful work in contributing o a better knowledge or the .North Carolina schools in the past. In a recent issue of the Raleigh Post there is a sketch ot the schools in Granville county. This writer went o school at the Oxford Male Acad- n 1 emy ror a dozen years. Among those mentioned by Dr. Battle to whom he went were Thomas H. Willie (not ''Rev.," as published), Kev. T. S. VV. Mott, David S. Robertson (who inherited a fortune and returned to his native Scotland ) and John J. Wyche. There were two others who taught between 1838 and 1845, but we do not recall the name of either. One was an Englishman, ascholarly man, whose personality we recall well, but not his name, as we write. Up to the time of the late James II. Horner. doubtless the greatest teacher was James D, Johnston, who afterwards taught in Norfolk, Va. He had a distinguished reputation long after wards. He was before our day. A great teacher who had a classical school in the St. John's College building (now used for the Orphan Asylum) was As libel li. Brown, former professor of languages in the Uniyersity of North Carolina. He was partner with Professor Horner at first, but they separated. After that Professor Horner said to us one day that the best teacher he ever knew was Mr. Brown, and yet the famous William J. Bingham had taught Professor Horner. In every case the poison must be eliminated from the blood, and no amount of external treatment can have any effect. There is no uncertainty about the merits of S. S. S. ; every claim made for it is backed up strongly Dy convincing testimony of those who have been cured by it and know of its virtues by experience. Mr. L. J. Clark, of Orange Courthouse, Va., writes: " For six years I had an obstinate, running ulcer on my ankle, which at times caused me intense suffering. I was so disabled for a long while that I was wholly unfit for business. One of the best doctors treated me constantly but did me no good. I then tried various blood remedies, without the least benefit. S. S. S. was so highly recom mended that I concluded to try it, and the effect was wonderful.
