The Chamber of Commerce met in

A Williams was requested to pre-
side, and in taking the chair made a
very eloquent and encouraging speech.
Dr. B. F. Dixon was expected to
address the meeting, on the subject of
the Baptist Female University and. its
location in Oxford, but owing to sick
ne in his family was unable to be
present. It is to be --hoped the people
will have an opportunity
of hear-
ing him next week.
Col. W. F. Beasley was in atten
dance and made, some timely , and
prai tical suggestions, besides having
his name entered upon the subscrip
tion list for a handsome amount.

way preached a sermon at the Baptist

Jordan Pritchard was on the witness
stand in his own behalf, and the solici
