Ex-President Cleveland and his wife will probably visit; Wilmington about the middle of this month On Sunday evening as the 6.18 train was coming in from Keysville, it ran over a colored man beyond the penitentiary. It is said he was walk ing along the track and became con fused when he heard the train and did not know which track to get oh. The engine struck him, knocking him from the track, but his injuries were not sup posed to be fatal.- News Observer. The News- Observer says: In the tease ot "the Raleigh arid Gaston R. R. against the Richmond and Danwlle Railrcad for the right of ay of a track at -Henderson, which has been under contention, a decision was yesterday rendered in favor of the Raleigh, and Gaston Railroad. A Greensboro telegram of yesterday says Lije More,who was under sentence of death and broke jail last Friday, was captured and brought back there this morning. He was captured in Rock ingham county, near the Dan River. He was first seen sitting down by fire bareheaded and barefooted, utterly broken down. The smoke of the fire led the pursuers to where he was. He did not venture to cross the river by the brdge as t wasguarded. A strong effort ' is being made by the lead ing citizens to have the sentence of death changed to life imprisonment. The change in the management of the Peace Institute, of Raleigh, to be effected shortly, was made public to day. John B. Burwell,the present principal, is to be succeeied by Trot. James Dinwiddie, of Gordonsville, Va., who has leased the institution tor twenty years. The Peace Institute is the leading female school of the Presbyterian denomination of this State. It is owned by a private stock company, and has for a number of years past been managed by Mr, Bur well, who held a lease on it. Profes sor Dinwiddie is a graduate of the University of Virginia, and has for some time been professor of English of the University of Tennessee. IN A GENERAL WAY.
