By the great major ity of men, the full value of such work as is seen in this quilt is not rightly estimated. But a few minutes of even casual examination will con vince anyone of the great patience and perseverance necessary to the proper performance bf the labor re -quired upon such at handsome piece ot work as this. Its beauty is beyond that of any similar piece of embroid ery I have ever seen, - and I may say for myself that I have not been alto gether unmindful of the beautiful things that the ladies with skilled fin gers are wont to make. Its value to us cannot be reckoned. It cannot be spoken of in the cold bare terms ot the arithmetician. Only in the warm, rich terms that give expression to the thoughts, feelings, love of the moral sympathetic, affectional life can it be understood. Its! thousands of stitches tells us, as they speak of earnest, per severing, patient labor bestowed, of the 'sincere regard and deep affection in which we are held b) these good women. May God bless every one of them in, their hearts and in their homes, is our siucere prayer. This deed, with so many other to kens of kindly esteem, coming as it does, just on the eve of cur departure, binds us all the more jstrongly to the good people of Oxford1,0 'if I1 ctf whom we already love so mucnf .f, These deeds, and the people who have done them, will have a lifelong place in our memories.; Very truly, W.
