OCT. 2nd. 1912 Misleading Literature. Mr. F. R. McNinch, campaign man ager for Governor Kitchin. has flooded Granville county with letters, in which it is claimed that the State Democratic Convention which endorsed Senator Simmons was "packed." It must be remembered that not less than 1000 delegates participated in said conven tion, and that if the Convention was "packed," it is passingly strange that Governor Kitchin did not find it out while rushing up and down the State before the Convention assembled and not wait until after the Convention had endorsed Senator Simmons' ad ministration then cry "fraud," corrup tion" and "white-wash." Such pro cedure is an insult to every Democrat in the State, and that thousands will resent it on the 5th of November there can be no doubt. The Kitchin crowd fail to heed the warning that some of the counties and districts of the State are barely Democratic, and that it is incumbent upon them to stop con demning the acts of the State Demo- Who is Paying for It? The Lexington Dispatch asks : Where is all the money coming from ; i that Kitchin's campaign managers are spending in Davidson county and the other counties of the State? It is be ing spent very freely to employ men i to travel about and circulate false hoods and to abuse everybody who is not for Kitchin. the mighty "trust bus ter," who "eats'em alive !" And also asks these questions. Why is it that practically all the officials of the tobacco trust and the railroads are for Kitchin? Four years ago he said these people were his bit ter enemies and that he was going to destroy them. Has he destroyed them? Did he go to sleep at the switch? Did he ever try to do any thing to disturb his slumbers? Judge Clark's Chances. When Judge Clark spoke at Little ton a few days ago one of bis friends asked him what his chances were. The judge replied "If you listen to Simmons and his friends, they have all the votes with just a few left to be divided with Kitchin and myself." Kitchin thinks that he has all in sight. The situation reminds me of an inci dent that happened at Kinston a few years ago when they came very near having a i ace riot. The white people gathered on one corner and the negroes on the other. The white men fired their guns in the air and the negroes rai. The next morning Mr. Whitfield said to his servant "Sam.I heard that you ran like ihe wind last night." Sam replied "No Sar, I did not run Jak the wind, but I passed two niggers who did iak the wind." principles stand to-day as they did when so much depended on our worthy leader, Senator Simmons, to redeem our fair State from nagro ruin; he gave his valuable time and money for the noble cause of Democracy and for the protection of the fair woman of our State and his name will always go down in history as the people's leader of that white supremacy cam paign and all his opponents can say can never blot it out and we appeal to all good Democrats to vote for the Hon. F. M. Simmons who the Demo cratic party owes more to than any other man in North Carolina Senator Simmons splendid record of achievement during his twelve years service in the United States Senate is one of which any people may well feel proud. This record should insure bis return to the Senate not only as a re ward for duty so faithfully performed but for the best interests of the people of the State, who will certainly be more efficiently served by a Senator who has had experience than by any new man, no matter what his qualifications may be. Neither Judge Clark nor Gov. Kitchin, able though both are, could possibly be in a position to render seryice to the State than Senator Sim mons is. All thoughtful men are ob liged to admit that this is true. FARMERS It will be to your interests to inspect the White Hickory Farm Wagons and see the advantages these wagons have. This is not a time for Democrats to fight each other, and if a man cannot win on his own record without attacking his fellow Democrat oppo nent he is not worthy to hold office, and we appeal to all Democrats of North Carolina not to listen to the newborn Democrats of recent years who change their doctrines every cam paign.
