David Pittard, of Nelson, Va., spent Sunday in this section. Miss Mary Bullock has returned home from a visit to Henderson. Miss Emma Royster, of Oxford, is visiting her brother, Ike Newton. Suit Sunday. Wilton Whispers We are sorry to learn of the ill ness of J. C. Cawthornl B. Wester and family, of Frank linton, spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. E. N. Gooch. Edward Floyd was kicked by a horse Saturday morning. Glad to say he was not seriously hurt. Miss Susie Pittard, teacher of Banks school, spent the week end with relatives at Clarksville. Miss Bessie Brogden, of Wake county,. who has been visiting Mrs. G. N. Watkins returned to her home last week. Mrs. R. C. Tunstall, of Apex, who is visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Goley, of near Creed moor, was in town Wednesday. Miss Huldah Wheeler joyfully entertained a number of her young friends Thursday evening last in honor of MissFronie Peed, of Dur ham. Many games were, played, which wore enjoyed by all. The" happy party departed at 10:30 de claring Miss Wheeler a charming hostess sciously ill for more than a few minutes before his death. He was about thirty-five years of age, and is survived by his wife, and by his father, F. J. Veasey, of Wilkins, and by two brothers, C. 0. Veasey, of Wilkins, and J. A. Veasey, of Richmond, and by one sister, Mrs. Hattie Gully, of this city. Mr and Mrs. Veasey moved here several years ago from Wilkins and have made many friends in the city. Mr. Veasey was employed by the R. J. Reynolds, Tobacco Company, and held a responsible position with that company. The remains were taken to Wilkins for interment. Death of Little Child . Little Melvin Jones Dixon was born the twenty-third of October and died the twenty-sixth. His life on earth" was very short but Jesus knew best. Now calmly and sweetly he is sleeping on his dear Savior's breast. He - took a little flower in each hand and went home to wear his crown. Dear parents, grieve not for him for he is wait ing at the gate his loved ones there to greet. Veasey died suddenly of heart disease Monday morning at ten o'clock at his home on JNorth Liberty street.
