Jilittbm PUBLISHED TWICE-A-WEEK WEDNESDAYS AND SATURDAYS. OUR SLOGAN-OXFORD OFFERS FOR HQME5, SCHOOLS AND PROSPERITY' VOIAJME 29. OXFORD, N. O.? WEDNESDAY, JAN 14, 1914. NUMBER 7 SHORT LOCAL PICK-UPS I SPEAK A GOOD WORD. GATHERED FROM THE TOWN YOU SHOULD BELIEVE IN AND COUNTY YOUR TOWN OUR SOCIAL FAVORITES STATE OF THE MARKET MOVEMENT OF PEOPLE., MORE SCHOOL ROOM. LORD AND LADY CHANTI CLEER RECEIVE Distinguished Gathering at the Armory of the Granville Grays White and red will predominate the colorings of the uniforms worn by the aristocratic old roosters on exhibition at the Armory ot vthe Granville Grays this Wednesday and Thursday. Quite a number of distinguished chickens have arriv ed and are being placed in position. It is noti cable that the roosters and not a few of the hens hold their heads a little higher during the era of high-cost living. It will be a late day when old chanticleer will concede that man is lord of all creation, and when the time arrives for the lion and the lamb to lay down together he will be found standing upon a rock crow ing, ever of the opinion that it would be impossible for the bun to rise until he dispelled the morning air with his voice. The show will be held through this Wednesday and Thursday, affording every one an opportunity to see a fine lot of chickens, and the success of the show means a great deal to Granville county. A large list of prizes will go tu the best specimens and poultry fan ciers are manifesting great interest in this magnificent exhibit which would do credit to any community. There are more than 200 entries for exhibition. An admission of 25 cents will be charged for the poultry show and it is expected that large num bers of citizens will attend, every one being assured of polite atten tion and of seeing a display of chickens that has seldom been equaled in this section.
