Brassfield School Last Friday afternoon, the regular work of the school was suspended and the time was given for the dis cussion of plant diseases, practical agriculture and country life subjects by Dr. Pulton of A. & M. College, Mr. Eugene Moss and Dr. J. A. Morris There were x5 visitors present and much interest was shown in these suggestions by the enthusiastic speakers. A country life club was organized recently with 14 members, having Irene Whitfield, president, Nanie Par rott, vice-pres. and Lawrence Moss, secretary, REPORTER. Browning School Brownins: school has hAAn in sion for ten weeks with -an enroll ment of fifty pupils. In September a delegation of the Juniior Order of' American Mechanics presented the school with a flag and Bible. At Hallowe'en, Mr. Ben Parham and the patrons of the school spent the after-! noon with us. Parham r.hoRA for his subject, "Truth'.' and made every j manner one happy by his pleasant and apt remarks. The teachers of the township, to gether with Miss Mary Shotwell, Mr. Brogdeoi, of Raleigh, and Mr. Webb were our guests for a day this month, and a few days ago Dr. Hays came to examine some eyes and throats. The pupils of the school were at home to their friends on Nevember 20th from seven till ten. The oc casion -was a Thanksgiving Social, given on this date because the shnni was closed Thanksgiving, on account of the Teachers' Assembly. We have a corn club, a pig club and a reading circle in our school. REPORTER. Edgewood School Our school is now doing some splendid work under the direction of Miss Elizabeth Hilliard of Oxford. On Friday before Thankseriviner. art noH o very interesting fair to celebrate Thanksgiving season. The children were dressed in quaint Dutch costum es as Pilgrims and sang Harvest songs in memory of the first Thnnts- giving in 1621. Fine specimens of can fruit, grain and vegetables were shown. Perhaps the most interest ing exhibits was a collection of : anti ques of old Pioneer days in North Carolina. '. n .- The wall of the school room have been recently painted by the children and were decorated with reprints of famous Dutch naintiners. We are very much pleased with the many Oxford visitors that we have naa tnis fall, among them are Mrs Mould of Philippine Islands, Mrs. A S. Peace, Mrs. J. S. Bradsher, Miss Margaret Hilliard, Drs. Hays and iuorris. ine cniidren are becoming very mucn interested in the various clubs of the county, six having joined the pig ciuD, nve the poultry club and three the corn club. One of the boys was selected to represent the county m tne corn-judging contest at the Teachers' Assembly in Raleigh, Thanksgiving and the entire com munity is proud of Garland Ragland. A community library has been or ganized at Kinton Fork and the peo ple of the community are very grate ful to the friends who have so gen erously contributed books and maga zines to this work.
