It will bene fit every church here and we do hope all that can sing will take a part in it as it is a part of the service and its your duty. Nothing helps any more than good singing so when the time is set to meet, please be present. MANY IN OXFORD TRY SIMPLE MIXTURE . Many Oxford people are surprised at the QUICK action of simple buck thorn bark, glycerine, etc., as mixed in Adler-i-ka. This simple remedy acts on BOTH upper and lower bowel, re moving such surprising foul matter that ONE SPOONFUL relieves almost ANY CASE constipation, sour stom ach or gas. A few doses often relieve or prevent appendicitis. A short treat ment helps chronic stomach trouble. The INSTANT, easy action of Adler- j i-ka is astonishing. J. G. Hall, drug gist, adv. AT Mr. Hartness Candidacy (Asheboro Courier.) The fact that the candidacy of Mr. J. A. Hartness for Secretary of State is steadily growing m. all parts of the state is gratifying. The people are learning more of Mr. Hartness and the more they learn as to the type of man he is the more they will be We are very grateful to our God for him. Mr, .Hartness is well thought KAFLOM & COMPANY Sale Starts Saturday, May 20th. that we haven't any sickness in our town at present. Narrow Escape Mr. W. A. Barnes while sawing last week had a (narrow escape of losing his eye as a saw tooth flew out of the saw and striking him on the ball of his eye. He was at once taken to Dr. Hays for treatment and he now thinks his eye will soon be all right again. Memorial Day Observed Memorial day was observed here. Rev. J. S. Kennerson spoke in the Dickerson Hall, he made an impress ive talk to all atnd said it was as lit tle as we could do to place a flower on our loved ones' grave. After the impressive address we marched by thedrum step; the Veterans in front, Boy Scouts, then the primary grade dressed in Indian suits, then the whole school and the citizens of the town. After soldier's graves were dec oratedwith Confederate flags and flowers each grave was then decorat ed with U. S. flags and flowers, then a prayer by Rev. Kennerson and the march was extended to the Baptist church where the same was done to each grave there and a closing prayer. The Boy Scouts deserve much credit as they remember the dead as well as the living. Choir to be Organized There will be a choir of by all who know him. He has at all times stood for the best interests of all the people, and it is not sur prising that as they learn more of him they are rallying to his support. His life has been one of service to his fellow-man, and he has given a life long service to the cause of Democr acy. He is what might be called a self-made man and has accomplished much by hard licks and has cut his way up. His private and public life is without spot or blemish and he is generous to a fault, unselfish, always helping others. He is a fighting Democrat, fights with hard licks and honest efforts, but never resorts to unfair methods. Mr. Hartness should be nominated for Secretary of State. Do not forget to vote for him June 3d. Purchased by Victor Kaplon of Roxboro, N. C. the entire stock of Dry Goods, Notions, Shoes, Clothing, Millinery, etc. must be sold in 30 days. ii It makes some people tired today thinking about the work they have to do tomorrow. All things come to those who wait, but it takes a lifetime to prove the truth of this. The easiest thing in the world to make is a promise. Also the easiest thiaig to break. No matter how well you cover up organized your faults, someone is pretty' sure here soon and we extend to all a cor- j to dig them up. Be sure to attend the funeral o: BARGAINS. rpT lie Hue VICTOR KAF OXFORD, N. C. It takes a pretty clever navigator to dodge the mitnes on the sea of matrimony. Even the golden rule may prove that it's a poor rule that won't work i both ways. Listeners seldom hear good of themselves, or anybody else, for that ' matter. The fellow who sows his wild oats doesn't reap any cereal as a break fast food. The people who make hay while the sun shines are not apt to make trouble when it rains. Many a man's wits have been sharpened by rubbing up against the rough edges of life. It is always much easier to take things as they come than to say good-by when they go. The man who borrows trouble must expect to have some difficulty in getting out of debt. No, Maude, dear; there is no sim ilarity between a suit of mail and a letter carrier's uniform.
