The personel of the company speak for itself, as follows: Z. W. Lyon, president; L. F. Smith, vice-president; T. W. Winston, Secre tary and treasurer; S. R. Abernathy. bookkeeper; E. E. Mangum and J. W. Cannady. Mr. Z. W. Lyon was the organizer of the company. Mr W. J. Long was president of the company up to 1913, at which time he retired and the name and style of the company was chaged to that of Lyon-Winston Co. and Mr. Lyon was chosen president. He is too well known through this section to need any praise at this writing. Mr. E. L. Smith, vice-president of the company was reared on the farm, near Tar River. He began as asales man for the company several years ago and close attention to business has won for him the high position he so ably fills. Mr. T. W. Winston, secretary- DR. E. T. WHITE (See Page 19.) treasurer, came to Oxford twenty-five years ago and purchased a half-interest in J. F. Edward's hardware bus iness. His business connection with the late Frank Edwards, which cover ed a period of ten years, was very pleasant. He was later secretary and treasurer of the Taylor-Cannady Buggy Company. Mr. Winston help ed to organize the Long-Winston Co. and was its first secretary-treasurer, a position he has held these long years. He also handles the buying end of the company. No man is bet ter posted and the thousands of cus tomers get the benefit of his wisdom as a buyer. Mr. S. R. Abernathy was reared on a farm in Warren county. He has been with the company as book keeper for about three years. He is indeed a very pleasant young man and enjoys the reputation of being one of the best bookkeepers in this section of the State. Messrs. J. W. Cannady and E. E. Mangum are the popular salesmen. Customers are always sure to get a cordial greeting at the big business hours of the Lyon-Winston Company on College street. The Leading Dry Goods Establish ment in This Section of the State The buyers for the Long Company have returned from the Northern Markets and announce that their fall and winter stock is full and com plete. This is the leading dry goods establishment in this section of the State, and by square dealings they draw largely from the adjoining counties. Mr. J. S.
