OXFORD PUBLIC LEDGER, FRIDAY, AUGUST 23, 1907.
THE
AID
SOURCE OF ALL DISEASE
Every part of the body is dependent on the blood for nourishment and
strength. When this life stream is flowing through the system in a state of
unty and ncnness we are assured of perfect and uninterrupted health;
ecause pure blood is nature's safe-guard against disease. When, however,
tie body is fed on weak, impure or polluted blood, the system is deprived of
ts strength, disease germs collect, and the trouble Is manifested in various
jsvays. Pustular eruptions, pimples, rashes and the different skin affections
how that the blood is in a feverish and diseased condition as a result of too
jnuch acid or the presence of some irritating humor. Sores and Ulcers are
the result of morbid, unhealthy matter in the blood, and Rheumatism, Ca
jtarrh, Scrofula, Contagious Blood Poison, etc., are all deep-seated blood
fisorders that will continue to grow worse as long as the poison remains,
hese impurities and poisons find their way into the blood in various ways.
Often a sluggish, inactive condition of the system, and torpid state of the
ivenues of bodily waste, leaves the refuse and waste matters to sour and
form uric and other acids, which are taken up by the blood and distributed
throughout the circulation. Coming in contact with contagious diseases is
nother cause for the poisoning of the blood ; we also breathe the germs and
fciicrobes of Malaria into our lungs, and when these get into the blood in
Sufficient quantity it becomes a carrier of disease instead of health. Some
are so unfortunate a3 to inherit bad blood, perhaps" the dregs of some old
constitutional disease of ancestors is handed down to them and they are
constantly annoyed and troubled with it. Bad blood is the source of all dis
ease, and until this vital fluid is cleansed and purified the body is sure to
puffer in some way. For blood troubles of any character S. S. S. is the best
Remedy ever discovered. It goes down into the circulation and removes any
pmd all poisons, supplies the healthful properties it needs, and completely
and permanently cures blood diseases of
every kind. The action of S. S. S. is so
thorough that hereditary taints are removed
and weak, diseased blood made strong and
healthy so that disease cannot remain. It
cures Rheumatism, Catarrh, Scrofula, Sores
and Ulcers, Skin Diseases, Contagious
Blood Poison, etc., and does not leave the
lightest trace of the trouble for future outbreaks. , The whole volume of
blood is renewed and cleansed after a course of S. S. S. It is also nature's
freatest tonic, made entirely of roots, herbs and barks, and is absolutely
armless to any part of the system. S. S. S. is for sale at all first class
drug stores. Book on the blood and any medical advice free to all who write.

J. B. Kelly, of Lilesville township,
Anson county, accidentally killed his
father, R. F. Kelly, by striking him
on the head with a rifle barrel. -With
others they had been sitting on the
porch conversing, when young Kelley
started to go home. He picked up a
small rifle and swung it around to his
shoulder. In doing so, the sight on
the gun struck the elder Kelly on the
temple, severing an artery and frac
turing the skull. The man died in 20
minutes. The son gave himself up,
was given a preliminary hearing and
was discharged, the evidence showing
that the tragedy resulted from a pure
accident.
Old Country Ham.
Talk about the breakfast foods,
And buttered toast and jam,
I'm happy if 3'ou'il give to me
Some good old country ham.
Chicken fried is awful nice,
And so is chops o' lamb;
But cannot quite usurp the place
Of good old country ham.
Beefsteak cooked, and rare and raw,
Oft hits the vital spot, kerblam;
But cannot equal taste or smell
Of good old country ham.
I'll push aside a rabbit stew,
Or bowl of soup a la clam;
If I can get a big broiled slice
Of North Carolina ham.
Ask Tom and Dick, and Harry, too,
And Beck and Sue, Bill and Sam
And 'scusin' 'possum, they'll all say
The very best is country ham.
A Sad State of Affairs.

Brother Bill is catching perch,
Out there on the bay.
Every one is happy,
Having worlds of fun;
'Cepting Dad, who nevejr will
Get the dishes done.
Heaped up in the kitchin,
All the dishes stand;
All the common china,
All the Haviland,
Mother's been away a month,
Dad has used them all;
Now he's eating off the plates
That decorate the wall.
Mother, mother, hurry,
Come back from the shore;
Dad can only find enough
Plates for two meals more.
He is up against it,
While you stay away;
Now he's eating breakfast food
From the large ash tray.
He will not wash the dishes
He piles them in the sink;
If you could only see them now,
I wonder what you'd think
Oh, hurry, mother, hurry,
Come back to us today,
For father hasn't washed a dish
Since first you went away.
