Tlie little folks of the primary grades of the Oxford Graded School under the supervision of Mrs. Kate Fleming gave a splendid entertain ment on the night of Thanksgiving. 4he chapel being i tiled with an enthu siastic gathering of patrons of the school. The children wrote the invi 1 at ions and sent them as they chose, 4 hey being cut out in the shapes of pumpkins with these words: "O.G.S. Primary Grades, Thanksgiving Con cert, Friday night, Nov 23th, 1901). 7: 30 o'clock. We invite you to come, if the weather is fine." The aud ience was greatly pleased with the K-oncert, and the little folks were -highly delighted with the success of 1heir efforts for which Mrs. Flem ing deserves great credit. Sassafras Fork Town ship, an educational ralley was held last Tuesday. A big success has bee made for a new buielding and it i. interest being manifested in the ee.n. miuiity. and a strong eifcrr .is bein made for a new building eaud ii W quite likely that the commendable activity of the people will do a great deal of good. Tally Ho F!ag Raising. The flag raising heretofore re ril ed to will take place in Tally Ho ou this Friday, when .-suitable ceremon ies will be arranged for it. Numbers of members of the Oxford Junior Or der of American Mechanics will go out and lend a helping hand io make a success of the occasion. Keen in terest is taken in the flag raising. Improvement Society," its organiza tion and of its sacce-ss in raising money for school purposes. College authorities are running for the good of the public. Communication has been held with Prof. 1. O. Schaub, who has just con ducted a school in Forsyth and the decision has been reached to holt the School at Stem upon a date short ly to be announced. Prof. Schaub with other teachers from the College will in three days give free tuition to the farmers, giv ing thorn such valuable invtructici and help as can be done within th short compass of three day;-. Te- j-'uging of horses, selecting cf seed, and 'lumbers of useful b.t ov farm helps will be brought '.o the attention of those in attendance, and every farmer should be present and pay close attention each clay. It mak es no difference how busy a farmer thinks he will be on iho.-e dates, he cannot afford to miss the schooling. While it has cost right considera tely to arrange for these schools, the fuition is absolutly free, and the re sults wi'l be far reaching. Cannady, died on Sun dav at her home near Fairport.and HAPPENINGS AT STEM. Oyster Supper and Play at Stem High School Realizes $103.75 Peo ple Moving About in Stem. On Thursday night last, the Worn ans' Betterment Society of Stem serv ed oysters and other nice eatables in the auditorium of Stem High School; in which the visitors and friends enjoyed very much, while the net proceeds of the supyr apiounted to thirty seven dollars and twenty five cents. The cake which was made by Miss Katie Lee Gooch, for the prettiest girl there, was won by Miss Mary Cozart., bringing $12.25. The play was on the night following which amounted to sixty-six dollars and fifty cents. The object of this entertainment was to help pay the expense of seat ing and lighting the auditorium,while we might say here, that the seats anc ligh ts will be in by the tenth- of this month. The seats that have been or dered are of the very nicest made and the light will be of gas. We are very sorry that the order for the stage curtain was delayed and couldn't be in at the last enter tainment, but will reach us by the 12 The school will have its closing ex ercise for the first term on Wednes day night, the 22nd., though the pro gram has not been made out at this writing, but the debate will be the principle efature of the occasion. The young people have organized an Ep worth League which meets on Sunday nights with M. S. Giles.their leader, Mr. Atlas BrinMey one of Stem's bright young men w,as married to Na omi Roberts of Eagle Rock on Thank, giving day. We wish them, much success through life's pathway. Mr. W. S. Cozart is moving this week into his nice home. Messrs David Hardee, of Trinity College, and John Mayes Jr., of A & M. were at home on Thanksgiving and spent a most delightful time,they returned.
