JOHN N. WILSON Chairman. FRANK NASH, Secretary. Grand Entertainment. A charming entertainment was given on Friday afternoon by Mrs. A A. Hicks at her residence on Colle ge Street, on the occasion of the clos ing for the summer of Kindergarten School. The School was opened last Fall and: has had as pupils the Misses Betsey Ballon, Eloise Horner, Dora Allred, Beth Cannady, Mary Owens, Elisabeth Niles, and Master Will Hicks. The children on this occasion were in fine form and with radient faces and unaffected manners, made up a delightful group. The exercises began wifch a chorus spiritedly sung by the School. A Musical program was then rend er d by a number of Mrs. Hicks prir vate pupils which was admirah5y,ca!l culated to show the proficiency to which each had attained; some of the numbers were of particular excelen ce. A pleasing feature was the story of the noted music Composers as related by each little Kindergardner as they sat grouped at the feet of their teacher. Each one bearing a nirtiirA or a, statuette of the Com poser of whom they were to relate, told in their own style and language, some of the sailient features,of,the Composers life, the entire group, ill ustrating the theme by singing a bar of his music, as for instance from the Hallelujah Chorus, the Messiah etc. A demonstration! of time and rhythinby beginners of only two or three weeks, was novel and. very interesting. Tttien followed a Cantata, entitled Queen of the flowers, written! for the occasion by Miss Lilian Minor. The flower chosen for Queen was the Daisy, and in the person of dainty little Miss Mary Owens, was enth thorned iin solemn state surrounded, b her lovingamd dutiful flower subjects The children's program ended witl a beautiful Pantomine entitled A Tom Thumb Wedding. Mrs. Hick's method of teaching the little " ones has been very pleasing to her patrons and has markedly de veloped the tender minds of the chil dren with out undue strain. Next term Mrs. Hicks will give the children some. training in Domes tic Science,in which they will learn to cook their own lundhes and to 'do it well and appetizingly. At the close Misisi Eva Minor sang a song entitled May, Day, Mom. The song was delijgit fully and artistically renderd, elic iting hearty applause. IT IS YOUR DUTY TO VOTE.
