nuestion naturally arises in the
d of the reader why this phenoni
mlD. sUCCess and why has this prep
eQ!tion so far out-stripped all other
I vines of its kind. It is only nat-
1 therefore that the manufacture
"should offer some explanation to
satisfy Public interest
In the first place, Tanlac is man
factured in one of the largest and
most modernly equipped laborator
ies in this country. Its formula is
lurely ethical and complies with all
national and state pure food and
dru- laws. Altogether there are
ten ingredients in Tanlac, each of
Which is of recognized therapeutic
value.
Many of these ingredients hae
been individually known and used
;ince civilization first began, and
some of them have been used and
prescribed by leading physicigans ev
erywhere, but until they were
brought together in proper propor
tion and association as in the Tan
lac formula, humanity had not here
tofore realized their full value and
effect.
In referring to one of the more
important ingredients of Tanlac, the
Encyclopedia Britanica says: "It has
long been the source of the most
valuable tonic medicines that have
to others of the general tonic, drugs ;
,wo;110h in Tanlac the 13th Edition
A-
of Potter's Therapeutics, a standard
medical text book, states that
-they impart general tone and
strength to the entire system,
eluding all organs and tissues."
m -
This same well Known authority j
in dcsciibing the physiological ac
tion of still another of the ingredi
ents of Tanlac which is of value in
treating what is commonly known
as "v. run-down condition" uses the
following expression: "It is highly
esteemed in loss of appetite during
convaiescense from acute diseases."
There are certain other elements
in Tanlac which because of their in
fluence upon the appetite, digestion,
assimilation and elimination im
prove the nutrition and vital activi
ty of all the tissues and organs of
the body, and produce that state of
general tonicity which is called
health.
In discussing another ingredient
the Encyclopedia Britanica says: "It
is one of the most efficient of that
class of substances which act upon
the stomach so as to invigorate di
gestion and thereby increase the
general nutrition. It is used in dy
spepsia, holorosis, anemia and var
ious other disease in which the tone
of the stomach and alimentary canal
is deficient." Concerning still an
other ingredient this same standari
authority says: "It causes dilation
of gastricblood vessels, increases se
cretion of the gastric juice, and
causes greater activity in the move
ments of the muscular layers in the
walls of the stomach. It also tends
to lessen the sensibility of th stom
ach, and so may relieve gasric pain."
The United States Dispensatory
makes the following comment re
garding another ingredient: "It
may be used in all cases of pure de
bility of the digestive organs or
where a general tonic impression is
required. Dyspepsia, atonic gout hy
steria and intermittent fever are a
mong the many affections in which
it has proven useful."
There are certain other ingred
ients described in the Dispensatory
and in other standard medical text
books as having a beneficial action
upon the organs of secretion, whose
proper functioning results in the pur
ents of the blood are removed, and
through them. In this manner ob
jectionable and poisonous ingredi
ents of the blod are removed, and
the entire system is invigorated and
vitalized.
Tanlac was designed primarily for
the correction of disorders of the
stomach, liver and bowels. At th
same time, however, it is a powerful
reconstructive tonic and body build
er, for it naturally follows that any
medicine that brings about proper
assimilation of the food . and the
thorough elimination of the waste

products must therefore have a far-
Teaching and most beneficial effect
upon the entire system.
Although Tanlac's claims for su
premacy are abundantly supported
by the world's leading authorities, it
is the people themselves who have
really made Tanlac what it is.' Mil
lions upon millions have used it, and
nave told other millions what it has
done for them. That is why Tanlac
has become the real sensation of the
drug trade in this country, and. that
is also why it is the most widely
talked-of medicne in the world to
day. Tanlac is sold by leading druggists
everywhere. '

It should clea nout your head in
two minutes and allow you to
breathe freely.
Hyomei often ends. a cold in one

Hyomei is made chiefly from a

comes from the eucalyptus forests of
inland Austrilia where catarrh, as

known to exist.
Hyomei is pleasant and easy to
breathe. Just pour a few drops in

A complete Hyomei outfit, includ

already own an inhaler you can get
an extra bottle of Hyomei at drug

TOO BANY PIGS CAUSED
DEFEAT OF THE FATHERLAND
(London Times.)
Ludendorff ,maintains it was the
revolutionary spirit of the German
soldiers that caused Germany's de
feat. Admiral Beatty says it was
the British Navy, . General Pershing
thinks it was the American army,
rhile armchair strategists declare it
was Foch's great offensive.
But, really, Germany was defeat
ed because she had too many pigs,
says Doctor M. Hindhede, the distin
guished Danish vegetarian.
The German pig betrayed the Fa
therland and contributed more to
the downfall of Germany than- the
Allies' blockade.
At the outbreak of war, the food
situation was more serious in Den
mark than in Germany. Denmark,
however, reduced the number of her
pigs and cattle, thereby restricting
the consjumption of cereals in the
country.
Germany, on the other hand, in
stead of reducing the number of her
pigs and cattle, forbade the slaught
ering of cattle under seven years
old and of pigs less than sixty kilos
"Jnweight. No restrictions were put
on feeding them with cereals.
By the spring of 1915 there was
scarcely a potato left in Germany
So Germs ny starved while Den
mark throve, and the pigs that were
Intended to save the Fatherland ate
the food so urgently needed by her
population.
That is why Germany lost ' the
war.

EVER SALIVATED BY
CALOMEL? HORRIBLE!
Calomel is Quicksilver and Acts Like
Dynamite on Your Liver.
Calomel loses you a day! You
know what calomel is. It's mercury;
quicksilver. Calomel is dangerous. It
crashes into sour bile like dynamite,
cramping and sickening you. Calomel
attacks the bones and should never
be put into your 'system.
When you feel bilious, sluggish,
constipated and all knocked out and
believe you need a dose of dangerous
calomel just remember that your
druggist will sell you a large
bottle of Dodson's Liver Tone, which
is entirely venetable and pleasant to
take and is a perfect substitute for
, calomel. It is guaranteed to start
your liver without stirring you up in
side, and can not salivate.
Don't take calomel ! It makes you
sick the next day; it loses you a day's
work. Dodson's Liver Tone straight
ens you right up and you feel great.
Give it to the children because it is
perfectly harmless and doesn't gripe.
