able tp preach, having during the
week- undergone surgical work in

spent Sunday at Wakeo Forest and
other points.
Mr. J. T. Evans of Williams
boro died last Wednesday and was
buried Thursday at Dabney by Rev.
Mavnard of the Baptist Church at
Henderson. He was father of Mrs
A. D. Hughes, of Granville.
Master Roger G- Lanier had the
misfortune Saturday while playing
in his yard to break his arm at the
wrist. Drs. Booth and Watkins set
the bones and the young man is get
ting along nicely.
Mr. E. E. Bullock, who has been
verv ill at Brantwood hospital for
some weeks has sufficiently recov
ered to be removed to his home cn
Broad street. His many friends will
be pleased to hear of his improve
ment. " i "
In Honor Of Bride and Groom.
The arrivarof Mr- Raymond Hunt
and his bride, nee Miss Hallie Duf,
fell, was a happy event in the home
of Mr.' and, Mrs. D. N. Hunt last Fri
day night, where a reception was giv
en in their honor. A large number
of relatives and friends were present
to meet the happy young couple, who
were married in Washington City on
May 13th. ; ,. C.
The Oxford Orchestre rendered
music, . which was greatly enjoyed.
Delicious cream and cake were serv
ed. The bride is the talented and at
tractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs- E.
C. Duffell, of Richmond, Va. After
spending a few days among friends

cle of Mr. Smith -at Oxford. Mrs.
Smith is a native of Cape Town,
South Africa, Where she married Mr.
Smith some months ago- Mr. Smith
is stationed in that far-away city as
a representative of the Imperial To
bacco Company having been there
for four years. He is an old Oxford
boy, and recently arriyed in Oxford
on a six months leaVe, the first that
he has had during the four years he
has been in South Africa.
