He is a very popular buyer on the Oxford market and it is hoped that he will be permanently located here for the next season. J P. Edwin Cur } tis, who incurred the displeasure of i the Boston Presbytery when he bap tized a dog and invoked divine bless ' ings on French fried potatoes, holds the pastorate of the First Presby terian churcJb of Brookline under sanction of the law, the Supreme court ruled in a decision by the full bench. The court dismissed a bill in equity brought by a minority of the church society which sought to restrain use of the church property because' Mr. Curtis did not have the approval of the Presbytery. Goocn. —Returns from banded brids sent in to the Biological Survey of the United States Department of Agricul ture constantly throw new light on the long distances traveled by migra tory birds in their instinctive search for a warm place to winter. Mai-' lard duck No. 102755, banded at Browning, 111., on March 12 of this year, was killed November 9 about 7 miles southwest of Lexington, Nebr., about 600 miles west. No. 102470, also a mallard duck, badn^d at Browning on March 7, was shot November 12 at Leavenworth, Kans.. some 500 miles west df where it started. Both of these ducks prob ably made a spring flight northwest ward and then south in the fall to the point of capture.
