Mr. Easton is un der treatment at St. Luke's Hospital. —Rev. N. B. Strickland is expect ed to return today from Watts hos pital, in Durham where he has been receiving treatment. Rein sen at Rayland Heights. —Misses Ethel Southerlan Hillard and Earle Hill of South Boston; T. C. Carter, Buck Malone and G. G. Johnson of Mebane are guests of Miss Lucile Hunt. —Ur. and Mrs. u. b. Watkins Dr. and Mrs. W. N. Thomas, Miss Doris Watkins, W. T. Yancey and C. G. Credle returned Friday from an ex tended tour of Canada and the Nortl^. While away they attended the ses-j sions of the International Rotary Convention. —Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Fuller have returned from their bridal tour and are at home with their sister, Miss Carrie Fuller. They spent their honeymoon in New York City. Mrs. Fuller was formerly Miss Mildred; Harris of Leechville. —The Misses Grace and Helen Sails left last Friday for a months stay in New England, taking the trip by water from Norfolk to Boston. They are to vHsit friends in Boston, Portland, Me., and New York and spend some time at Bay View near Old Orchard. Miss Helen will be at the University of Va., for graduate work in August.. —Mrs. B. W. Parham and Mrs. Duke of Richmond were the reci pients of a lovely social courtesy on Friday when Mrs. R. G. Lassiter en tertained a number of her friends at a delightful bridge luncheon at her home on Gilliam street. The guests of honor were presented attractive boudoir corsages and prizes for top score were presented at each table. An elegant course luncheon was served. —Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Prichard and son George Prichard left Monday for their home in Rocky Mount where Mr. Prichard is buyer for the R. J. Reynolds Compapy. Mr. and Mrs. Prichard have resided in Oxford for several years and have made many friends who regret to have them leave. They have taken a prom inent part in all social, religious and civic work of Oxford and will be greatly missed in the community. —Mrs. B. W Parham is leaving' Wednesday to spend a few days with her parents Mr and Mrs. Archibald Johnson' of Thomasville. —Misses Helen and Edna White entertained at dinner on Monday in honor of two recent bridal couples of Oxford; Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Ful ler and Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Parham. —Judge Crawford Biggs, of Ral eigh, spent the week end in Oxford with his mother, Mrs. W. H. White, before leaving for New York, where he sails on July 12th for London to attend the American Bar Association which convenes there. He will spend several weeks on the Conti nent. The question of saving money came up, hut these giris said they couid not spare anything from their small earnings. But just as joke one of the girls said: "I dare you to start a savings account and see who can save the most." So they started. A few years later one of the girls quit working to get married. She was surprised to hnd $600 in the bank to her credit—a very welcome sum at such a time. The other girl is still working and she continues her vis its to the bank each week. Her account is well above $2,000 now and it is growing fast. Her interest money each year is more than her 6rst year's savings amount ed to.
