Mrs. John A. Myers, chair- I man. stated, had sponsored a "Get! Out the Vote" drive for women ip the nationai election. The depart ment also has assisted with pro motion of United Nations Day and in publicity for club meetings and undertakings. Reports from other club depart ments are to be submitted at letter meetings of the club. Mrs. Nelson Thomas. Jr . asked ; that the club recognize and extend to Mrs. Frank Bragg a vote of ap preciation for her big help with the 1952-53 year book and in so many other ways during the year. A rising vote of thanks was given to Mrs Bragg by members of the dub. , Mrs. Edith Cannady asked that members pause in a moment of si lent tribute to memory of Mrs. lohn B. Mayes. Jr., deceased. Mrs. Cannady read a glowing tribute to Mrs. Mayes. The club voted to purchase badly needed chairs and tables for the dub house. Miss Mary Shotwell. chairman of International Relations of North Carolina Federation of Woman's Clubs, gave highlights of the state convention which she recently at ended. Miss Shotwell was elected o the nominating committee of the date organization for next year. Mrs. Graham Wright reported on the events of Junior Day at the federation meeting. Mrs. T. J. CUt- ! t in reviewed the various projects of the juniors dring the year, includ ing $28,000 contributed to North Carolina Children's Home Society. Greensboro, contributions of cloth- , ing to the supply closet for under privileged children and playground equipment given Caswell Training School. Mrs. Shearin. as guest speaker, recognized achievements as detail ed in the reports, calling them "most gratifying. " She also pre sented briefly a cluh president's work shop to be held in June. She also reminded of the district meet ing to be held in October in the fall, which is to draw attendance from 21 clubs. She also spoke of the state convention and enumerated some of the qualities of a good club woman. She reminded of the ideals of the women's organization and of the opportuinities offered for de veloping a world community. As a surprise conciusion to the meeting. Hon. B. K. Lassiter ap peared and presented to the ciub the corporate seat of the Oxford Woman's Ciub. which has been in his possession for the past 25 years As iegai counsei of the ciub. Mrs. Biaiock received the sea] with words of appreciation for the ser vices of Mr. Lassiter.
