McFarland, Jr, Chosen Tuesday Wight Mrs. Arch Taylor, Sr., and Ed ward H. McFarland. Jr„ were elect ed to be directors of the Granville County Chapter of the American Red Cross by the board of direc tors In a meeting here Wednesday night. They will fill the unexpired terms of Thomas Gray, who has moved to another state, and Mrs. T. H. Yancey, who has resigned. They will serve until the annual election In May. A1 King, chairman, states that the local chapter is "most fortu nate" In securing the services of the two new members. Mrs Taylor has an outstanding record In the national Red Cross as production chairman of the chapter, served during and since the war years. She has been active in both civic and church affairs, serving formerly as president of the Woman's Auxiliary of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, apd as an officer In the Oxford Woman's Club. McFarland, a na tive of Oxford, who until recently, for the past few years has lived in Henderson, where he was president of the Jaycees, vice president of the Klwanrs Club, secretary of the Wildlife Club, and a former dea con in the Presbyterian Church. The secretary was instructed to send a note of condolence to the family of the late Mrs. Luther Da vis, who for many years was a member of the board and chairman of nursing services. Miss Hope of Raleigh, area rep resentative, attended the meeting.
