"Yours respectfully, " "B. H. Hill " EYESIGHT OF SCHOOL DREN. CHIL- At'anta Journal. The adage that prevention is better than cure snould have special considera tion in the case of the eyes. In many cities examination of the eyes of school children have been made with alarming results. Out of 53,000 public school children io Baltimore who were examined no less than 9,051, or ieaily 0 per cent., were found to have jves so defective that their continuance r school work was declared to be unsafe. This is even a larger per cett. of de fective "eyes than was found in the Lo'ndon schools and the report of the experts who made the examinations in that city created: much commtnt in England. Children who do not receive from their parents of teachers instruction as to proper use and care of their eyes ire apt to strain them and in many in stances to damage them seriously. Ins struction as to the use of the eyss ihoujd be made part of the duty of J very school teacher and SLonld be be un at the very start of the pupil's school life. We have no doubt that uch an examination of the school children of Atlanta, as has been mad n Baltimore, would show that many of thetn have eyes whichare alreay bad ind which will be ruined if they con citiue- to be used carelessly. This Is a matter which every board of education should take up and con sider intelligently. CASTORIA For Infants and Children. The fae eiffllls lgiu'.are f " trttf George Pilgrim, of Thomasville.
