Mowery's back yard Saturday night and on asking him what he was doing the man ran. Mr. Murphy sent three bullets after him but none of them hit the mark. Some one made an unsuccessful at tempt to enter the shoe shop of Mr. John F. Eagle last night. A glass in the rear window was taken out and the window partly raised but could not be gotten high enough to admit a person's body. with a bone felon on his thumb. He took bone erysipielas which ran up his arm and caused his death. The deceased leaves a wife and four children. He was fifty-two years old. The Southern has issued a bulletin to this effect: Dogs belonging to hunters or sportsmen will be carried in theii baggage cars free when accompanied by owners, only one dog free for each tieket. When dogs are in crates or cages they will be charged for at excess baggage 'rates. Mary Louise, the sweet little girl of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Simpson, of this city, died last Wednesday in Lancaster S. C, where her parents are visiting. The Ledger, of Lan caster, savs : Mary Louis., the precious little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Simpson, ofiexfat 11 o'clock, on' Wednesday last, at the home of Col. J. X. Crockett. Had she lived until j Monday she would have been two years old. Her death is a severe blow to the devoted young parents whose sad bereavement elicits the . heartfelt ' sympathy of this entire community.
