THE OPENING COTILLION. It Was the Host Successful German Salisbury Has Ever Witnessed Neighboring: Cities Well Represented. The Salisburg German Club gave a cotillion last night. The room has no decorations as yet except the band stand is draped in a big Amer ican flag. It is well ventilated and despite the insufferable heat a breeze could be found in almost any of the five large windows.' A most sensi ble, praiseworthy, and we might say novel idea, was noticed in the gener ous supply of palm leaf fans tnat the club furnished. The neat was in tense and had it not been for the preparations to fight this . one "dan gerous enemy the pleasure that ev erybody enjoyed, would have been curtailed. The floor is one of the best Salisbury has. The first couples began to arrive about 10;o'clock and at 11 the room was well filled. Xhe floor managers placed the couples in the Drder in whish they should dance thegerman. Mr. John Yoike, of Concord, led the german with grace and ease. Ow ing to the large number of dancers and spectators there was a crush at first' but after everything had settled down to business the dance blos somed into one of the prettiest ger mans Salisbury has ever seen. There, has always existed a strong t social f ncmdship-Ttwetj-iI dnd '' Concord -tan'd the latter was more strongly represented than any other neighboring town. ' . ' .
