The ca?e is so plain that very little can be said or written upon it. "We of the South referred the questions' at iss .e between us and the United States to the arbitra ment ' of the sword. The decission has been made and it is against us. Ve must acquiesce in that decision, accept it. as tinal, and recognize the fact that Virginia is again one ojjjthe United States. Dur duties and interests coincide. AVe shall consulr the one and perform the other by doing all we can to promote the welfare of our neighbors and kindred, and to restore the prosperity of the coun try. We should at once commence the duties of peaceful citizens by entering upon some useful pursuit, qualifying our selves to yote, if possible panel at the pMls' our votes should be cast for con servative jrten men who understand and will maintain the interests of Virgin ia as one of the United States'. All persons who were cloiug any business in this district on the 3Uth day of May, 18G5, for which a license is required, will be assessed from the 1st day of May, 1865. All persons who have commenced any business for which a license is required since the date of the establishment of the distriet. to wit: the 30th day of May, 1865, will be assessea from the date of commencement of said business. Any person, firm, company, or corporation, desiring to engage in, prosecute, or carry on ahv trade, busi ness, or profession in this disirict must first obtain a license therelore provided by law.
