E. Mowbray, .of Philadelphia. His subject will be the Keely . treat ment. v Mr. Mowbray comes high ly recommended by ministers. Rev. Egbert ' W. Smith , of the First Presbyterian Church, of Greensboro,- says he is not only a speaker of extraordinary eloquence and power, but was fitted to do good and nothing but good. Rev. J. W. Weaver, of West; Market street, M. E. Church South says: I have had the pleasure of hearing Col. J. E. Mow bray and a more able and eloquent speaker 1 have seldom heard. His address will please and profit any audience. I most cheerfully recommend him to all who have an opportunity to hear liim. Col. Mowbray: arrived here today and is stopping at the Cen tral hotel. He spoke at Concord last night and had a large audience. His lecture will include a disser tation upon the Opening of the new Keely Institute. J. W.. Gardner, of Faith, Was in the, city today. II. J. The ceremony will be performed by Rev. J. Wertz, of China Grove, j Poisoned By Thunderwood. Atlanta, Ua., Feb. 11. Four members of Mr. L. S. McMul len's family are, at the -point of death from wood poisoning 'They are Mrs. McMullen, the eldest daughter, Miss ; Ola, and the two younorer boys of the 'family, Fran k and Ande rson, aged 12 and 10 years old, respectively. Thunderwood is known as one of the most poisonous trees in the forest. McMullen is a chicken fancier. When he laid in his sup: ply qf winter wood, 'a stick, of thunderwood 'became mixed; with the others, and it was, not detect ed. The wood was burned' the same as the other, and the deadly fumes of the poison were inhaled by the family. The four members; above mentioned became deathly sick. There were in the neigh borhood of two hundred persons present. The lecture and the pictures exhibited, embracing sceneries of Greenland was very line. To Transfer Telegraph Office. Mr. G. A. Barner, constructor and supervisor of this division of the Western- Union Telegraph Company, was here yesterday morning to make arrangement to transfer the telegraph office at Spencer from its temporary head- quarters in the old box car at that place into the new buildinor re-. cently completed. Mr. . Barner left on train No. 36 for his home in Richmond. He will return within a week, perhaps the latter part of this "week, as soon as be can get the material and make the transfer.
