Price upon his return from Wiikesboro he said to a Sun re porter: Mr. H. E. C. Bryant, the repre sentative of the Charlotte Observer at the convention, was evidently misinformed as to the remarks made by me at the convention. I know that Mr. Bryant is my per sonal frienJ and would not inten tionally do me an injustice. He was not in the convention, when I spoke. My remarks were in ex planation of my candidacy and in defense of the outrageous assault made upon me. Ths statement by Mr. Bryant quotes me as saying that I was parsaaded into the con tefeti3 a mistake. On the contrary I distinctly said, that while it was a fact that certain gentlemen urged me to announce, my self as a candi dite and while their advice had great weight with me, yet I said to the committee that I was in thi3 contest upoa my own respon- teihilitv. - After reviewing my political history I then proceeded to answer the ' vile and slanderous charges made against me to accomplish my defeat, and to defend my record as a government officer. .
