Boston, April 17. The present weekmarks the 200th anniversary of the American press and the bi centennial will be commented upon generally by tomorrow's , papers. The first American newspaper to establish itself in the colonies was The Boston News Letter, which issued its first number in the week of April 17 24, 1704. It consisted of a sheet 7 by 10 inches, printed on both sides, two columns to the page. Its editor was John Camp bell, postmaster, of Boston.
