The following is from the gov ernment's weather forecast for the the month of July : The month of July will be hot and sultry, with terrifHc storms and at times heavy rains covering the entire country. The heat at times will be intense, causing many prostrations in all sections of the . country. The heat waves will be frequent but of short du ration, being relieved by violent storms. . Hurricanes will oceur along the gulf coast and on the Gulf of Mexico. on the Atlantic ocean arid coasts. On the great lakes and states adjoining, cy clones and t'ornadops over the ptates of the west northwest; hot weather. Violent storms and at times heavy rain, high wiud,-hail and electrical display will occur over the Ohio Valley over the Btat03 of Ohio. Indiana, Ken tucky, -West Virginia Tennessee, Pennsylvania Illinois, Texas and the Southern and; Gulf, states. The severe storms of heavy rains in the valleys of tha big "central rivers will cause floods in the- Jow lands. . The Southern 4rivers will also attain Hood stages of water. j Damaging cyclones preceded by rain and, nail win occur over l .the states of Iowa,, . Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas and the Dakotas. An Indiana City has an Unpleasant Ex perience Willi It. Evansville, Ind,, JulyC The city H quit this morning. There are no sigus of mob violence that agitated the people all of last night. Business is being con ducted as usual. A trip through ho business section reveals the act that much damage was done to numerous stores, especially to he hardware stores, many of which were entered and robbed of guns aod ammunition. Ihous- ands of shots were fired during the night, but so far as known no one was killed. . Several negroes were caught by mobs and almost beaten ta death before the police could save them. Race prejudice between blacks and whites brought on a reign of terror here Sunday. All last night and all day yesterday arm ed mobs threatened the lives of citizens. Gun stores were brok- en open and weapons and ammu nition were seized by the blacks and whites. The county fall is partly wrecked. An angry mob of 2,000 whites broke into it to hunt for black 'victims. The wall was forced with a battering ram. A negro dive was ransack ed and shot to pieces in a search ior oiacKs. ana an armed com pany of drilled blacks marched through the streets threatening the lives of all whites. The gov ernor ordered - out troops to protect property and quell the disturbances, but they did not arrive. The trouble, which has been brewing for months, came to a crisis Friday when Lee Brown, a negro, shot and killed Patrolman Massey, who was trying to arrest him while bent on the murder of a man with whom he had quarreled.
