CaegMLsst Klght ly Capt. Dsaaldsaa. Sscceetfetl la Wrteklsg Ttrce Cars. Btrad Oier. ' . , Nell Carter, a negro woman of unsavory reputation : who lives at Spencer, was detected in the act of wrecking a train last night. That the railroad is the oply sufferer from her fiendishness is no fault of hers, for she deliberately throw open a switch as a' freight train rolled down the track, re gardless of cost or consequence to others. For the past three months the railroad authorities at Spencer have been alarmed over open switches. v Time and again have .... , ' they endeavored to detect the per petrator of the deed but in every instance have they failed. At times the switch would be open just before the passage of the fast passenger trains, but every time the plan was laid to wreck s train and endanger lives it was foiled by the discovery of the open switch. . Last night Capt. Donaldson was shifting on the yard when he dis covered a woman standing near switch. He thought nothing of it until he saw her spring to a switch and turn it. In an instant he re alized what she was doing and grabbed for her. She ran, calling to, a friend to bring her a " pistol. Capt. Donaldson caught her, how ever, after a short chase and turn ed her over to the authorities. She was tried this morning before Es quire T-D. M. Millef and sent to jai OCdefault of a $200 bound.
