A-Standard NEW ADYERTISEM7H I McKeel's Pharmacy (2nd page) Reference Book I Mot. f THE Almig ii y Dollar. The Many Have Too Few and the Few Too Uany. have the pleasure to an nounce the location of an agency in New York City for the pur chase and selection of my stock, in order to enable me to quote hnver prices than others who buy on long time and ask big prices in these days of panic and hard times. My agent has, instructions to watch every sale, and every failure, to look after every house on the verge of bankruptcy and ruin, and with cash in hand to buy the lump or the lot, every class of merchandise that ice can (jet at less than its value, so that we can mark in plain figures on my bargains prices that have not bee i been named in this mar ket, or any other. Not by favor but by merit alone do I expect to make and maintain a reputa tion for cheapness. Big prices will not do these times when even the wealthy cannot affprd to waste their money, and the poor require double duty of tevery dollar. As my prices change with ev ery sale, it will be impossible to give quotations, but it will be ! my aim to name figures that will compel you in self defense to buy f me. I deal in good goods, and not trash, and I believe the masses will patronize that house that sells the best goods for the least money. Among my daily arrivals I shall place before our pleople j some landslides that are posi tively beyond the whisper of competition, comparison or mo nopolyprices that will teach you in the silent logic of truth the difference between dealing with live and with dead men, be tween the cash and the credit system, between the right and the wrong way. New advanced ideas crowding out the old, pluck instead of luck, cash instead of credit, brains in the place of cheek, and science and ability boating back and crushing into oblivion these moonshine merchants with their tough and tremendous long time prices. What is the use wasting a dol lar, when you can save it. I shall otter such unanswerable arguments as no house can match, leaders and specialties at quota tions that no other can olfer; stern and stubborn facts that will level your head on the sub ject of genuine bargains, This is the music that shall crowd my store, whilst other merchants sleep on their coun ters, dreaming of the day of dis aster and ruin awaiting all who , buy on long time, and sell on longer,. who pay big prices, and all at figures that no people can afford to pay. I invite an early and repeated visit and t inspec tion. My stock will be replen ished every few days. I do not till mail nor telephone orders; goods not sampled; all goods not -.if represented the cash will be refunded. Respectfully submitted to the ash trade only. W. H. EDWARDS, Agent for C. B. Ellsworth we learn quite a se rious fire ocpurred at Parmele Monday evening at 9:30 o'clock. The fire was discovered in the third story of White & Co's. store and soon spread to adja cent buildings, destroying the oflice of Dr. Ricks and a small dwelling. The estimated loss is about $5,000, partially cover: d by insurance. This morning after the fire it was discovered that Mr. T. L. Whitley, a highly esteemed one armed man who had rooms in the third story of White & Co'?, store, had perish ed in the flames. The Messen ger Gazette extends its sympa thy to its Parmele friends. We hasten to doff our hat and welcome the bage of Bunyan to town. How lonesome will be old Beaver Dam. No more will his melodious voice be heard echo- ing through the pines, making tne welkin ring with that oid ! iamiliar tune, "Hark b rum the j Tomb a Doleful Sound." But what Beaver Dam has lost Wash- ' ington has gamed. Rumor says a i the Sage's coming with bag and baggage the postoffiee aspi rants began to quake in their shoes and that the Sage is only mtiking himself comfortable prior to taking charge of the postoffiee. Whether true or not, the Messenger-Gazette welcome its old friend to our little city, with the hope he may yet real ize the truth of the following lines: While the lamp holds out to burn The vilest sinner may return. If you tarry 'till you're better You will never Come at ail. Not the righteous, Sinner, Democrats came to call.
