Fire this morning destroyed the business section of the town. Fourteen factories, occupied chiefly by jewelry manufac tures, and a dozen dwelling houses and storehouses were burnnd. Philadelphia, Pa., May 18.--The battleship Alabama was launched at the Cramp ship yard today. As the vessel gli ded gracefully into the waters the traditional bottle of wine was broken over her bow by Miss Mary A. Morgan, daugh ter cf Senator Morgan, of Ala. Only a small crowd was present, as the government desires to keep su:h informa tion secret as might be gathered by strangeis in Cramp's yards where other ships are beino built. A cy cloue passed over this section yesterday and did much damage to the, crops and property, blow ing down houses, trees, etc. No loss of life reported, though many injured. The principal damage was done at BWoodriver, Bladen, Franklin and River town, but the telegraph wires are down and details are at this time unobtainable. Alger's Daughter Married.
