Chicamauga says, tha'j Wm.
Ruly a negro private volunteer,
attempted several times to cross
the guard lines of the Seventh
Kentucky Regiment, when stop
ped he became abusive. The
Kentuckians threw a rope around
his neck and were dragging him
to the nearest tree when Col.
Gaither interfered. The mem
bers of the regiment have been
greatly harrassed by the persis
tent insolence of the negroes.

coal is being unloaded, and
