J n Mother helps with the farmig work and this gives me a J p chance to help by planning and j cooking our meals. I have f( learned to cook meats, vege- j tables, fruits and desserts. 1! b know foods are more appetiz-jj, ing when they are served at- ti tractively. In order to serve!p foods many different ways I (y use new recipes. Many times, i (j Mother and I make our own j] recipes. I e Of course, I made many j fj mistakes at first, such as not | w using standard measuring equipment, and not cooking ^ . the correct length of time, or T at the correct temperature. ;. From these experiences I have learned it pays to follow the recipe, to use the right equip- g ment and leave off guess work. ? ^One^point I stress to ray par- ^ ents and friends is to plan f. meals around the Basic Seven "jl Food Chart. Another point is to cook and prepare foods the \ correct way in order to save ' the vitamins and minerals. I Since we have at home the pork, chickens, vegetables, some, fruits, milk, butter and b eggs, and since I also carry J food conservation as a project, V we do not have to spend a '{ . greah deal of money for food, h : Yea, there are some we must V buy.
