Passavant Rites Held On Sunday Funeral services for Charles Rudolph Passavant \tfere con ducted at Harris Chapel Church at 3 p m. by the Rev. William Cory. ? Mr. Passavant, 74, a resident of Hollister, c'.ied at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill on Sat urday. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Estelle Ellington Passa vant; one son, Charles Rudolph Passavant, Jr.; one daughter, Mrs. James L. Knight of Nor lina; one brother, O. W. Passa vant of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Mrs. Zelie Jutz of Lynchburg, Va.; and four grandchildren. E. F. Hartley Dies In Virginia ONANCOCK. Va. ? Eugene Fuller Hartley, an internation ally known economist, died Monday night in a Nassawadox hospital at the age of 82. Hartley, who moved to the Eastern shore of Virginia about 15 years ago, was the retired executive secretary of the International Business Ma chines Corp. A Lexington, N. C., native and a graduate in law of the University of North Carolina, Hartley served in World War I as chief U. S. statistician in charge of war commodities. He is survived by a son, E. Boykin Hartley, vice-president of American Railway Express Co., Old Greenwich, Conn.; a sister, Mrs. Ellen Hartley Leon ard of Lexington and a broth er, Jerome Hartley, pf Ellerbe. Last rites were held on Thursday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at Onancock, Va., with interment thre. Mr. Hartley is the uncle of Mrs. W. R. Strickland of War renton.
