Cake Roll Easy To Make A recipe for mince meat cake roll, developed in the Borden Test Kitchen and designed es|>ecially for the busy homemaker of today, is a festive looking, good-tasting dessert. Lavish and elegant in appearance, the roll is not difficult to prepare, thanks to a happy combination of modern convenience foods. The delicious creamy filling is a blend of ready-to-use mince meat and one-half of an eight-ounce package of cream cheese. Packaged cake mix is used to make the roll. The remaining cream cheese frosts the whole. The new cake roll is ideal for parties. Also, clubs and church committees will find it impressive fare when the need for a "des sert and coffee" suggestion arises. It will appeal because it is quickly and easily made. The roll serves eight to ten, depending on the thickness of the slice. Two rolls would provide enough des sert for the usual four tables of bridge. Tucker, War renton, has recently prepared seventy-five (75) acres of his unproductive woodland for planting pine trees. The work was done with a crawler-type tractor and heavy wood disk. Loblolly pine seedlings will be hand planted during February or March of 1962 at the rate of 1,000 seedlings per acre. Spacing will be approximately 6x7 feet. The remaining hard woods .which were too large for the tractor and disk, will either be used for fuel or poisoned next Spring. Mr. Tucker is also treating some of his cut-over land in Virginia in the same manner. Mr. C. M. Haithcock. Macon, has also recently completed seventy-five (75) acres of site preparation on his farm. Part | of this area has sufficient seed I trees for natural reproduction | and the rest will be hand | planted with loblolly pine seed lings. Mr. Haithcock's interest in his woodland and their po tential is relatively new.
