jation Of 184 HD Club Women Attend Council Meeting In Raleigh Approximately 3,000 women crowded Raleigh's Memorial Auditorium last Wednesday, March 28, from 52 counties throughout the State, for the 20th Annual Session of the State Council Meeting of Home Demonstration Clubs. Warren County made an out standing appearance at the meeting with a delegation of 184 persons. Mrs. Peggy Drew, Negro home economist, who headed the Warren group to Raleigh, said that this was one of the largest groups ever to attend the meeting, among whom were eight husbands of HD Club members, and some ten non-HD Club members. Mrs. Lizzctte Pearsall, re-1 tiring president, presided over .the first session, which opened at" 10:30 a. m. Mrs. Martha Mc rNair called the roll of coun Smiley Funeral Held Wednesday Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Smiley were conducted at Blaylock Funeral Home at 2 p. m. Wednesday by the Rev. Dan Parker. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Smiley, 56, died Mon day morning. She was a mem ber of the Baptist Church and was the widow of Andrew J. Smiley who died in 1959. Mrs. Smiley is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Kirkpatrick and a son, Andrew J. Smiley, Jr., both of Warren ton; two stepdaughters. Mrs. Lucy Smiley Leonard of Macon and Mrs. Annie Rose Williford of Wilson; and four grand children. Vaughan Funeral Held Wednesday Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Holt Schuster Vaughan, 43, were conducted at the Zion Methodist Church Wednesday at 4 p. m. by the pastor, the Rev. Donald F. Funderburk. Due to the fact that the vice-presidents move up to office according to rank, it was expected that the only battle would be over the election of the second vice president. The officers of treas urer held by M r s. Roxie Small; secretary, Mrs. Mildred P. Fowler, and the assistant secretary's place, now filled by Mrs. Geneva Johnson, would be filled by new people. Miss Kennett was slated to install the new officers. where she was born and reared. She is survived by her hus-l band, John Lane Vaughan; four j daughters, Mrs. Phylis Thomp-' son of Norlina, and Misses Sandra, Margaret and Cheryle Vaughan, all of the home; six sons, Fritz, Raymond, Wilbur and I.eroy Vaughan, all of the home, and John Macon Vaughan of Richmond, Va;; one sister. Best, 83, were conducted at the Littleton Methodist Church on Tuesday at 3 p. m. by the Rev. John H. Sutten and the Rev. M. Y. Self. Burial was in Sunset Hills Cemetery at Littleton.
