Mr. and Mrs. Ray Puryear of Boydton, Va., were dinner quests in the D. S. Wimbrow home last Saturday night. Mr. Tommy Manning of Ral-j sigh was a weekend visitor and Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Man ning of Weldon joined the. group for the day on Sunday.! Mrs. B. S. Pope returned! to her home in Henderson on j Tuesday after spending a I week with her daughter, Mrs. j John Clarke. Mrs. Kenneth Davis and j Katie Clark of Norfolk visit ed Mrs. Davis' parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Clark this week. Sunday visitors in the R. M. White, Sr., honle last Sun day afternoon were C. W. Cole of Wise, Mrs Wiley Coleman of Warrenton, Mrs. B. C. Thompson and Mr. and Mrs. J F. White. Bryson Speaker At Woman's Club Meet The Norlina Junior Wo man's Club met Thursday evening, Jan. 17, at the home of Mrs. Earl Coleman with Mesdames Charles Miller, O. C. Abbott and G. G. Hen drick as co-hostesses. Mrs. Hal White, Jr., intro duced the speaker of the evening, the Rev. Larry Bry son, whose topic wat "Am I A Responsible Citizen?" The club agreed to con tribute toward the expense of sending the Federation pres ident to Europe to participate in the NATO program. After the members had dis cussed and settled other bus iness matters, the hostess served chicken salad sand wiches, cheese straws and coffee. The members received 1863 calendar date books as favors. Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Ed White Mrs. Ed White ol Drewry entertained the Norlina Bridge Club and other guests at her home last Tuesday evening. The guest prize was won by Mrs. Walter White. High score prize was presented to Mrs. J. J. Clarke; second high to Mrs. C. L. Hege; low to Mrs. D. S. Wimbrow, and bingo to Mrs. J. Allen Kim ball. Guest players were Mes dames Walter White, Henry White, J. Allen Kimball and John A. Wilson. Club mem bers present were Mesdames E. M. Robinson, H. F. Kelly, Edna Newman, J. W. May field, John J. Clarke, D. S. Wimbrow, C. L. Hege and B. A. Thaxton. ji A delcious salad course and coffee were served by the hostess. Cub Scouts Meet At Home Of Mrs. Duke Cub Scout Den 2 of Nor lina met at the home of their den mother, Mrs. S. D. Duke, on Friday afternoon with Lee j Burrows. Mike 'Caleman, C.j A Hicks, Stuart Duke, De way ne Parvin, Tommy Quick,' Karl Tunstall and Hill Yan-j cey attending. Tommy Per kinson was unable to attend. After a brief business ses sion, Mrs. Duke gave an in teresting demonstration on: "Bird Feeders," and materials; were distributed. The Scouts, with the ex ception of Tommy Quick, at tended the Walt Disney Movie, "The Castaways," held at Warren Theatre recently. Brotherhood Meets At Norlina Church The Brotherhood met at the Norlina Baptist Church on Thursday evening at 7:30 o'clock with 11 attending and the Kev. Billy Fallaw presid ing in the absence of the president, R. B. Lloyd. Tom Currie, program chair man for the month, introduc ed Rix Mustian of Roanoke Rapids, teacher of an Adult Sunday School Class at the Rosemary Baptist Church. Mr. Mustian gave an interest ing talk on "Christian Wit nessing." Norlina High School Menus Are Given Jail. 28-Feb. 1 Monday ?
