NEW DISTRICT HD OFFICERS?Newly elected officers of the 13th District H. D. Federation are pictured above following their installation at Louisburg last week. They are, 1. to r.: Mrs. C. Haithcock of Macon was installed chairman of the 15th District Organiza tion of Home Demonstration Clubs at the meeting held in Louisburg on Wednesday of last week Some 300 home demonstration club women from Granville, Vance, Frank 'in and Warren Counties at tended the meeting held at Louisburg Theatre. Mrs. H. K. Baker of Frank lin County, chairman of the district, presided at the meeting. Mrs. H. M. Dickens, Franklin County, rendered special music and a'-'. led the group in singing. Mrs. Char lie Memtt, president of Franklin County Council, gave the welcome with the response by Mrs. Nat Bur well, president of the Gran ville County Council. W. F. Shelton, manager of the Louisburg Theatre, and County Commissioner Paul Childers, extended greetings to the group. Greetings from the state executive board were brought by Mrs. James C. Harris of Warren County, second vice president of the State Home Demonstration Club Organization. Guests were recognized by Mrs. E. R. Dement of Gran ville County, district corre sponding secretary, and past district chairmen were recog-: ] nized by Mrs. C. M. Haithcock 1 of Warren County, district! ! vice chairman. Mrs. I. The report of club work j done in the 15th District' during 1962 was given by ( Warren County club mem-1 bers. Those taking part in giving this report were Mrs.; IC. P. Chewning and Mrs. Joh:i K Kilian Mrs. Lillie Mae Dean, re tired home economics agent; from Frsnklin County, intro-1 duced the main speaker for ] the tiay, George W. Smith, | Assistant Director of the N. | C. Agricultural Extension, Service. Smith spoke on j Family Life in America. He j contrasted family life here j with that in several other: countries; he also used sev-] eral human interest stories, making his speech entertain ing as well as informative. Following a bountiful tur key dinner served in the Louisburg Armory by the Franklin County Home Dem onstration Club women, the afternoon session was held in the theatre. Minutes of the last year's meeting were read by Mrs. George M. Tucker, Jr., of Vance County. Reports were given from the nominating and registration committees. Warren County women serv ing on these committees were Mrs. J. D. Holtzman and Mrs. Goode Fleming. Gran ville County won the gavel for having traveled the most miles to the meeting. Greetings were brought by Mrs. Mary McAllister, North eastern District Agent. Tal ent numbers were presented by Jean Ellis, Beth Bullard and Talmadge Allen, 4-H Club members. Mrs. Walter Haun, past dis trict chairman, installed the new officers. The officers included Mrs. Haithcock, chairman; Mrs. Leon Frazier, Vance County, vice chairman; Mrs. E. R. Dement, Granville County, recording secretary; and Mrs. Charlie Merrit, Franklin County, correspond ing secretary. Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Bob bin, Jr., and Miss Donna Kaye Bobbitt of Winston Salem were Friday night visi tors of Mrs. Alma Webster and Roy D. Wright. Jose Mitzi Bias of Raleigh was a Saturday night dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stansbury. Miss Elsie Hill of Greens boro spent Saturday night with Mrs. William Sharpe in the Joheph Delbridge home. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Del bridge of Littleton and Mas ter Joseph Gregg of Hamp ton, Va., visited Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Stansbury on Satur day. Reynolds Perkinson of Nor lina visited Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Delbridge on Satur day. Mrs. Viola Etheridge spent the weekend in Warrenton with Mrs. Robert Etheridge. Leon Acree of Norfolk, Va., visited his praents last Thursday. Dr. Willie G. Myrick of Winston-Salem spent several days last week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James A. Myrick. He accompanied his parents and sister to Wil mington and visited Mr. John Lewis and other relatives during the weekend. Whit Neville, Douglas Reid and Ferdie Moore were in Asheville last week. Joe Stainback has accepted a position with the Advanced Store in Roanoke Rapids. Miss Dorothy Hilliard spent the weekend in Elon with her father, Mr. Henry Hilliard. Mrs. Hilda Waite and chil dren of Triangle, Va., were visitors of Mrs. Annie Lee Hilliard and Miss Dorothy Hilliard during the last week. Mrs. Bernard Spraggins is a patient in Roanoke Rapids Hospital. Mr. Spraggins and Putney Haithcock visited Mrs. Spraggins and Turner Three Witts in Roanoke Rapids Hos pital on Thursday. Michael Farrall of Roanoke Rapkli spent tba weekend here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Salmon. Grover Shear^n of Hollis ter visited his sister, Mrs. Ed win Stanahury, on Friday. S. D King is a patient in Parkview Hospitsl, Rocky Mount. Stsff Sgt. William F. Wal ker has returned to Andrews Air Force Base in Washing ton, D., after a visit here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Walker Mrs. Nellie Johnston spent several days last week in Warrenton with Mr. and Mrs. Major Pope Powell. Mr. and Mrs. Drewey Allen of Buffaloe, N. Y., visited Mrs. Nellie Johnston and other relatives here last week. Mrs. Alice Browning Entertains At Cards LITTLETON ? Mrs. Alice Browning entertained at two tables of bridge at her home on Roanoke Avenue on Wed nesday afternoon and served a chicken salad plate, cake and coffee. Spring flowers were used throughout the home. High score prize was award ed to Mrs. Horace Palmer and Mrs. Sally Leach was low score winner. Mrs. W. W. Johnston received the high score visitor's gift. Others playing were Mes dames Harold Smith, Roger Moore, Raymond Ward, A. J. May and J. M. Stokes. Mrs. Ferdie Moore Hostess to Clnb LITTLETON?Ml*. Ferdie Moor* entertained members of her bridge club on Thurs day night with two table* *et up for play. Arrangements of spring flowers were used throughout the home. Mrs. J. N. Moseley received the high score prize and Mrs. William Leach received low. Mrs. James Smith received the visitor's gift. Others playing were Mes dames Churchill Brown, Frances Ricks, J. M. Stokes and Miss Anna Wollett. A salad course, with cof fee, was enjoyed. Brownie Troops Hold Joint Meeting LITTLETON ? Brownie Troops No. 1 and 2 held a joint meeting in the Com munity Building on Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Joe Threewitts and Mrs. Hugh Wood, leaders, prodding. Following routine butinsn, the group worked on Mother's Day gifts.
