Coleson is on a 30-day leave after which he and his family will be stationed in Guam for two years. They will also visit his parents at Hertford before going to Guam. Mrs. Fannie Bell Bobbitt and granddaughter, Kerry Bobbitt of St. Petersburg. Fla., visited relatives in Franklin County last week end. Mary Dowell Taylor and Kim Harris are attending Girl Scout Day Camp at Ken Lake. Walker and Miss Minnie Harris visited rela tives in Charlotte recently. Stew Sale The Warren Plains Metho dist Church will sponsor a Brunswick stew sale Tuesday, June 25, at the church. Stew will be ready by 12 noon at 75c per quart if customer furnishes container; other wise 85c. In case of bad weather the sale will be post poned. Ruby Ann Newsom, B. H. Hudgins Wed The marriage of Miss Ruby ! Ann Newsom, daughter of I Mr. and Mrs. Herman Ray Newsom of Littleton, to Brad ford Hunter Hudgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Noland G. Hud gins of Norlina. took place Sunday afternoon in the Nor lina Methodist Church The Rev. J. B Parvin, pastor of the groom, officiated at the double-ring ceremony. Nuptial music was present ed by Mrs. Margaret Hicks of Norlina, organist. Vows were spoken before an altar decorated with bas ket arrangements of white hydrangeas and fern, flanKcd by candelabras holding burn ing tapers. (liven in marriage by her; faher, the bride wore a white cocktail dress of chiffon over taffeta with a fitted bodice, fashioned with a portrait neckline and a bell-sliaped: skirt. Her veil was attach d j to a crown of seed pearls. She wore pearl accessories j and carried a white prayer book topped with white cym bidium orchids. Miss Margaret I-ee Newsom I was her sister's maid of I honor. She wore a pink dress of chiffon over taffeta and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. Kenneth Daeke of Manson was the bridegroom's best man. The bride's mother wore a blue dress with white acces sories and had a corsage of pink carnations. The groom's mother also wore a blue dress with a corsage of pink carnations. Mrs. Sol B. Bobbitt was mistress of ceremonies. The couple received in the vestibule of the church after the ceremony. For the wedding trip the bride chose a green floral de sign dress with white acces sories and her corsage was a white cymbidium orchid lifted from her prayer book. The bride is a 1963 grad uate of Littleton High School. On June 18 the scouts \ toured the Air Force Acade my at Colorado Springs. On June 19 the scouts saw Loads ville and Pike's Peak and spent the night in Grand Junction, Colo. "Yesterday the scouts went through Provo and Salt Lake | City, Utah. Today the Expe dition will go through Nevada and into California and to night will be spent in Yosem ite National Park. Tomorrow will be spent touring Los An geles, Disneyland, and a major league ball game will be seen in Chavez Ravine," Lew wrote. j On June 24 the Philmonters (will be in Las Vegas, Nevada, and on the 25th the scouts ! will tour Zion National Park 1 and the Bryce Canyon. Norlina Cub Scouts, Pack 618. held their regular month lv pack meeting on Tuesday night in the Fellowship Room of the Norlina Methodist Church when Den 2 was awarded an attendance pen nant. Following a program of games and songs, assorted cookies and Pepsi-Colas were served to members, their fam ilies and friends by Den 2. Attend Assembly Seven Rainbow Girls with their Mother Advisor, Mrs. Charles Wilson, attended the Grand Assembly at Wilson on Monday. Bible School Closes At Baptist Church The Vacation Bible School ] closed at the Norlina Baptist Church last Friday after a 1 successful week of Bible school activities with an av erage attendance of 137. Fleming Wed Miss Holly Joyce May and Vernon Bennett Fleming were married January 1 in the Marriage Chapel at Dillon, South Carolina. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Margaret C. May and the late Walter Herman May of Norlina. The bridegroom, who will be a student at the University of North Carolina, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Fleming of Manson. Move To New Home Mr. and Mrs. Jake Norwood have moved to their new home in the Zion community. Barbara Newman of Hen derson spent last week with Nancy Edmonds. Zion HD Club Meets At Home Mis. Rooker The Zion Home Demonstra tion Club met at the home of Mrs. C. P. Rcoker on Tues day afternoon. Mrs. E. E. Hecht, pres. opened the meet ing with the reading of a hymn. "Security" was the topic of the devotional led by the hostess who asked the question during her talk, "How Big are Our Lives". "Feeding the Sick in the Home" was the subject dis cussed by the Food and nu trition leader, Mrs. Rooker. She gave the group several important points on feeding the sick. Among these were: 1. was to fix attractive trays. 2. prepare appetizing foods. 3. Make the patient com fortable before serving. 4. Feed the patient prompt ly Mrs. Rooker demonstrated a broccoli souffle which she served each guest. Routine j business was then held, after | which the hostess served j lime sherbert floats and cookies. A lovely arrangement of colorful petunias added an air of spring in the living room. The annual family picnic will be heljl at the J. D. Holtzman pond in July. J. C. Pridgen is receiving treatment at Park View Hos pital in Rocky Mount. CHARLES LEE MULCHI Norlina Boy Is On State's Dean's List Charles Lee Mulchi, a ris ing senior at North Carolina State College, was placed on the Dean's List for the 1962 63 school year. Charles is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Mulchi, Jr., of Norlina and is married to the former Peggy Felts of Wise. He is majoring in both Soil Science and Crop Science and is a member of Alpha Zeta Honorary Fraternity. Move Into New Home Mr. and Mrs. Bill Craft and family have moved into their new home. Future Farmers Plan To Attend Sta^ Convention Plans have been completed by the Norlina Chapter of the Future Farmers of America to attend the State Conven tion June 26, 27 and 28, Clint Hege, agricultural teach er and FFA chapter advisor at Norlina High School, an nounced this week. He said all meetings will be held on the N. C. State University Campus. Hege said that George Holtzman had been named Baptist Circles To Meet Monday Circle meetings for the Norlina Baptist Church this month will be as follows: The Margaret Mitchell Cir cle will meet Monday at 10 a m. at the home of Mrs. E. B. Davis. The Lola Sue Circle will meet Monday afternoon at 3 p. m. at the church annex. The Lottie Moon Circle will meet Monday at 8 p. m. at the home of Mrs. O. B. Bowen. one of the *ix district win- \ neri in the atate in the Sup ervised Farming Contest. George has served as reporter and will be the Chapter pres ident next year. Each chap ter is entitled to two dele gates to each session. George will receive an award on Thursday. The delegates named arc Herbert Moseley and Richard Bender for Wednesday, Em ery Keeter and George Holtz man for Thurday and Philip Bender and Wayne Lynch for Fr^.-y. Norlina has four candidates for the State Degree this year. They are Wayne Lynch, I Philip Bender, George Holti man and Wade Schuster, Jr. State Degrees will be award ed on Friday morning. Hege is representing Dis trict III on the State FFA Advisory Council and will as sist in directing the conven tion and contests. He will attend a state meeting on j Tuesday when final plans and any last minute changes will* I be made.
