Ridgeway News , Community 4-H Club , Formed At Ridgeway A meeting was held at the Lutheran Pariah Hall on Thursday night to organize the Ridgeway Community 4-H Club, under the sponsor ship of Mr. and Mrs. John K. Kilian, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Brauer, Mr and Mrs. E .E. Hecht, Mr and Mrs. Leonard G. Bender and Mr .and Mrs. Waiter J. Bender. Miss Rita Ann Castleberry, j assistant home economics agent, and L. B. Hardage, as sistant (arm agent, presided. Mrs. Chris F. Holtzman and Leonard J. Kilian were se lected as the 4-H adult leaders. A nominating committee' was selected to present a I slate of officers at the next! meeting. ? Serving on this J committee are Robert Ben der, Jimmy Hecht and Nancy Capps. Plans were made for a pic nic to be held on August 22 at Kimball's Point with all families attending. Among those joining the club were Phyllis Ingle, Rachel Ingle, Nancy Capps, Shirley Seaman, Linda Holtz man, Ruby Kimball, Donna Brauer, Elizabeth Hill, Bar bara Brantley, Emily Rideout and Margaret Rideout; George Holtzman, Claiborne Holtz man, Dale Stainback, Robert Bender, Jimmy Hecht, Con rad Bender, David Horton Brantley, Billy Seaman, Ken ny Cawthorne and John Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. William Las siter, Connie and Carolyn of Sanford were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Holtzman on Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Holtz man, Charles, Jerry and Betty were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Matthews in Henderson on Wednesday night. Mrs. W. H. Daeke is spend-) ing several days with SP6 and Mrs. James Tucker and family in Fort Eustis, Va. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dortch of Wilmington and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dortch and daughters of Raleigh visited Mrs. Mina Dortch and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brietzke on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Ben der and family of Roanoke Rapids spent Saturday with Mrs. J. M. Bender and visited Mr. and Mrs. L. M Bender. Mr. Reuben G. Holtzman of Louisville, Ky., spent the week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Holtzman. Mrs. Annie K. Kilian and Mrs. Chris F. Holtzman re turned with Reuben G. Holtz man to Louisville, Ky., on Monday afternoon to spend sometime with Mrs. Rosa Shaw and will also visit the Chris Wyler family and Mrs. Ann Seaman and family in Stanford, Ky. Mrs. Rosa Kriedt of Miami, Florida, is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hecht. Mr. and Mrs. R N. Stain back and Dale and Miss Shirley Stainback visited Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Cottrell in Louisburg on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Luke Gupton and family of Louisburg visit ed Mr. and Mrs. L. M. Pas chall on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs George Rosen burg and son of Raleigh visited Mrs. George Bender on Sunday. Birthday Visitors Mr. and Mrs W. B. Sea man and son, Marshall, Mr. and Mra. Richard Matthews of Henderson, Mrs. W. A. Kimball and Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Mitchell and fam ily of Cokesbury, Mr. and Mrs. L. M. PaschaU, Jr., Mrs. L. M. PaschaU, Sr., MUs Darlene and Donna Paschall, Alice PaschaU, Mrs. C. F. Holtzman, George and Clai borne Holtzman, Carl R. Ben der, Richard Bender and Reuben Holtzman visited Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Holtzman recently in honor of the birthday of Mrs. Holtzman. Potato chips, cookies, cake and Coca-Colas were served the group. YPS Meets The Young People's Society of St. Paul's Lutheran Church met on Friday night in the Lutheran Parish Hall with Mr. and Mrs. John G. Kilian as host and hostess. The Rev. M. E. Franke open ed the meeting with scripture reading and prayer and later led in topic discussion. Mrs. Richard Matthews, vice president, presided over the business session and Mrs. J. M. Bender, who was in charge of entertainment, show ed a film to the group. The hall was decorated with pink and white crepe myrtles and the table was centered with an arrangement of mix ed fruit, flanked by flowers. Ice cream floats were served with cake. Holtzman Honored Mr. and Mrs. Albert G. Bendered honored Reuben G. Holtzman of Louisville, Ky., at a fish fry in their yard on Saturday night. Others attending were Mr. and Mrs. C. F. Holtzman, Sr., George and Claiborne Holtz man, Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Holtzman, Mr. and Mrs. Rich ?rd Matthews, Mr. Kenneth Daeke, Mb* Margaret Ana Hideout, Mlat Dolly Seaman, Mr*. Albert Brletske, Carl and Richard Bender and Mlaa Doris Bender. Mlaa Margaret Bender was hoateas to the Young Luth eran Club at the Pariah Hall on Sunday night The Rev. M. E. Franke opened the meeting with prayer and led in topic discussion. George Holtzman, president, presided and Hiss Veronika Haun was in charge of enter tainment and showed a film, "Beyond the Valley." During the social hour the hostess served delicious re freshments. Birthday Party Mr .and Mrs. L. M. Pas chal!, Sr., honored their granddaughter. Miss Darlene Paschall, at a birthday party on their lawn Sunday after noon in observance of her sixth birthday. A pink and white motif was used in re freshments of Kool-Aid, ice cream and decorated cake which were served to Doris Bender, Charles and Jerry Holtzman, Debra and Wayne Gupton, Lynda and Charles Kimball, Ruby Kimball and Becky Rose Mitchell. Favors of candy, blow gum and fancy hats were given the children. Games were also enjoyed by the group. Brotherhood Meets At Wise Church The Brotherhood of the Wise Baptist Church held its regular meeting on Monday night. Harry King was in charge of the meeting and gave an interesting talk on "World Missions." The wives of the Brother hood prepared a delicious meal for the 18 men attend ing the meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Poin dexter, Jr., of Lovingston, Va., visited relatives here during the weekend. NOW! NEW!
