Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Wil liams, Jr., and son, Michael, and Mrs. Elizabeth Williams visited Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wil liams and family in Graham and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wil liams in Burlington on Sun day. Mr. Julius Williams of Rocky Mount visited Mr. and Mrs. N. L. Williams, Jr, on Monday night. Mrs. Richard Hedgepeth and son of Richmond, Va., spent last week here with Mrs. W. K. Hedgeoeth. Mv. Hedgepeth and Miss Linda Walters of Richmond joined them here for the weekend. The entire group, along with Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Coleman of Inez brought to the office of The Waren Record on Monday a banana canteloupe, 24 inches in length, raised on her farm. Engaged Couples Honored At Tea Miss Breuda Clark and Mr. Lawrence Rivers and Mia* Sarah Ann Puller and Mr. Ed gar Neal, brides- and bride grooms-elect, were- honored at a floating tea on Sunday af ternoon from three to five o'clock In the Warren Plains Baptist Church. The receiving line was com posed of the honored couples and their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Fuller, Mr. and Mrs. James Rivers and Mr. and Mrs. Fenton Clark Oth ers in the receiving line were the Rev. and Mrs. Bill Puckett and Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Allen. Mrs. J. V. Allen and Mrs. M. P. Carroll were in charge of registering the guests and assisting at the refreshment table were Mesdames William Thompson, M. E. Thompson, R. K. Carroll, Wilson Copley, James Robinson, Gilmore Cop ley, Curtis Overby and Miss Christine Felts. Fri.it punch was poured by Mrs. Albert Lynch and mines, pickles, ham biscuits, cheese straws and cake squares were also served. An arrangement of mixed summer flowers and greenery adorned the table. Mrs. Parker Honored At Bridge Luncheon Mrs. J. J. Allen and Mrs. Walter A. White honored Mrs. Parker on Friday morn ing at a bridge luncheon in the Allen home, which bore lovely arrangements of sum mer flowers. Mrs. Nat White was high score winner, Mrs. W. S. Bugg low and the honoree also received a gift. Others attending were Mes dames Scott Gardner, Mon roe Gardner, R. S. Cline, Charles Johnson, and Charles White. Lunch was served in the dining room where mixed flowers decorated the table. Bridge Luncheon 7 Given Mrs. Parker Honoring Mrs. Charles Parker, who leaves this week for Winston-Salem, Mrs. Charles Johnson entertained at cards on Monday night and gave her a gift. Mrs. J. A.' Tucker was high score winner. Others attending were Mesdames J. J. Allen, Nat White, Kenneth Brinson, Scott Gardner, Monroe Gard ner and Robert Kline. Pie and coffee were en joyed by the group. The home was gay in summer flowers. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mc Arthur and baby are visiting relatives in Belhaven. Miss Warren Is Bride Of Nathan Henry Gay LITTLETON?In a cere mony performed in the Bear Swamp Baptist Church on August 18 at four o'clock, Miss Doris Faye Warren be came the bride of Nathan Henry Gay. The Rev. G. B. Norman officiated at the dou ble-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude S. Warren. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. W. E. Conner of Springfield, Va., and the late Mr. Sidney Gay of Gas ton. The church was decorated with potted palms, baskets of pink gladioli, astors and sev en-branch candelabra with pink burning tapers. Prior to the ceremony Mrs. A. G. Wilcox presented a pro gram of nuptial music. Mrs. Art Fore of Rolesville was soloist. Given in marriage by her 'father, the bride wore a dress j of chantilly lace over taffeta featuring a scalloped neck line, long sleeves .with bridal ! points at her hands, a scal | loped over-skirt ending in a chapel train embroidered with I seed pearls. Her veil of silk illusion was attached to a crown of orange blossoms and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of white Esther Read daisies. Miss Sandra Warren, niece of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a mint green street length dress with a bell-shaped skirt of candy floss over taffeta. Her head piece was of matching green illusion and she carried a bouquet of pink Esther Read daisies. Bridesmaids were Mrs. James Echols of Roanoke, |Va., sister of the groom, Miss Violet Moore of Emporia, Va , j cousin of the groom, Miss Mary Ann Williams of Roa noke Rapids and Miss Vivian Satterwhite of Hollister. Thn junior bridesmaid was Miss Charlotte Warren, niece of the bride. They wore street length dresses of pink candy floss over taffeta identical to! that of the honor attendant and carried green Esther Read daisies. Sidney Gay of Alexandria, Va., was his brother's best man. Ushers were James Echols of Roanoke, Va., broth er-in-law of the groom, Claude Warren, Jr., and George War ren of Littleton, Alton War ren of Fayetteville, brothers of the bride and Floyd Daughtry, uncle of the groom. The mother of the bride wore a street length dress of emerald green pure silk shan tung with matching hat and a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Conner, mother of the groom, wore a beige lace dress with matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. For traveling the bride chose a blue brocade silk sheath with white accessories. The bride attended Hard barger's Business College, Ral eigh, and is now employed by the J. P. Stevens Co., Inc., Roanoke Rapids. The bride groom is a 1962 graduate of East Carolina College and has been a member of the Aure lian Springs school faculty for the past year. After a southern wedding trip, the couple will reside on Route 2, Littleton. Cake-Cutting A cake-cutting honoring Miss Doris Faye Warren and Mr. Nathan Henry Gay was given on Saturday evening in the social hall of the Bear Swamp Baptist Church follow ing the rehearsal. Decorations and refresh-1 ments carried out the color j scheme of pink,- green, and white. After the traditional first slice had been cut by the couple, the remaining cake was served by Mrs. James Echols and Mrs. Claude War ren, Jr. Punch was poured by Mrs. Alton Warren. At tending were members of the wedding party and invited guests. Bridal Luncheon Mrs. James Echols and Miss [Violet Moore entertained at a bridal luncheon honoring Miss Faye Warren and her at tendants at 12:00 on Saturday at the Rebel Restaurant. Miscellaneous Shower Miss Faye Warren was en tertained at a miscellaneous shower given by Mrs. John H. Newell, Mrs. Bowers Wilson of Littleton, and Mrs. J! Paul Wilson of Winston-Salem. Ross entertained at a fish fry on Monday evening for Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Fitts of Ironton. Ohio, and Mr. Robert Fitts of Norfolk, Va., with 20 at tending. The affair was held at the old Fitts home near Warrenton. Barbecue And Flah Fry Messrs. Johnny and Cooper I Leonard, J. M. Ross and Palmer Fitts were hosts to a barbecued chicken dinner and fish fry on Saturday afternoon at the tobacco barn of Cooper Leonard with 60 attending from Oakville, Macon, Warrenton and Nor lina. Dameron-Mahaffey Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Olin Henry Dameron, III, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Dameron, Mahaffey of Apoka, Fla., an nounce the marriage of their daughter, Eileen, to William Jr., of Atlanta, Ga., and grandson of Mrs, W. H. Dam eron of Warrenton and the late Mr. Dameron.
