News and Events of Interest To Norlina Readers MRS. IMOGENE ARNOLD, Editor Mesdames A. S. Wyekoff, R. H. Fuller and J. W. Ar nold attended the WMU Lead ership Conference at Middle burg Baptist Church on Tues day. Earl Shearin of Wise is a patient at Warren General Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. A. T. Edwards of Durham spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C. P. Rooker. . Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Harris, Mrs. J. T. Walker and Miss Minnie Harris visited Mrs. Yancey Gordon in South Hill on Tuesday. ? Mr. and Mrs, W. G. Wyekoff of Fayetteville were weekencT guests of Mrs. A. S. Wyekoff. Misses Ellen Cain and Linda Slaughter of East Car olina College were weekend guests of Miss Linda Kay Stallings at her home here last weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nance and family of Norfolk spent last weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Nance. Entertains Club Mrs. B. A. Thaxton was hostess to the Norlina Bridge Club at her home last Tues day evening. High score prize was pre sented to Mrs. C. L. Hege; second high to Mrs. Edna Newman; low to Mrs. D. S. Norlina Literature, Music Club Meets The Norlina Literature and Music Club met on Thursday, Sept. 12, at the Zion Educa tional Building for its first meeting of the new year, with Mrs. M. F. Hayes, Mrs. W. V. Hicks and Mrs. A. S. Wyckoff as hostesses. Fall flowers and fruit arrangements beau tifully decorated the dining room. A three-course dinner was served to 20 members and guests present The dining tables were covered with fes tival linen cloths centered with epergnes filled with flowers and fruits. After the dinner Mrs. Wy ckoff, president, presided over the business session. Mrs. Sue Skinner, 14th dis trict president, North Carolina Federation of Woman's Clubs, an invited guest, was unable to attend. She sent her mes sage by letter which was read by- Mrs. C. E. Tucker. Mrs. Skinner asked the club to fol low up the project selected by the district in our own club The project selected for this year is "Gerontalogy." Mrs. G. O. Stultz, Jr., presi dent of the Norlina Woman's Club, was a guest. The Home Life Committee had charge of the program. Mrs. C. E. Sumerell Is Named Senior Class Head Bobby Sumrell was elected president of the Senior Class of the Norlina High School at the first class meeting of the 1963-64 year, held on last Friday. Mr. Hutton served the Vorlina Church as pastor Tom 1956-61. He is present y pastor of the Powers Mem >rial Baptist Church of Hope veil, Va. Mrs. Hutton is the daugh :er of Mr. and Mrs. E. B. The Huttons Felts Family Keets At Carroll Home Descendants of John Jack voit Felts and Mary Emil; Myrick Felts and their fami lies held a reunion on Sun day, Sept. 1, at the homi of Mr. and Mrs. Luther A Carroll near Warrenton. Assisting their parents it greeting guests and registra tlon were Mr. and Mrs. Rob ert V. Allen of Warrenton Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Pearc< of Richmond, Va., Mr. an< Mrs. Luther A. Wynn Reunion Held Local Club House The John Wynn family r union was held last Sundc at the Norlina Clubhouse. Tt dinner was served picn style and consisted of Brun wick stew, chicken, counti ham, candied yams, devile eggs, salads, pickles, cake pies, coffee and Cokes. Around 150 attended froi South Carolina, Raleigh, Hei derson, Macon, Warrentoi Warren Plains, Elberon, Ei field, Norlina, Clarksville, Va Richmond, Va., and Sout Hill, Va.
