Teichers Hold District Meet At Creedmoor School CREEDMOOR?The Home Economics teachers of dis trict four held a professional meeting at G. C. Hawley High School here recently with Miss Shaw as hostess. In the absence of the prin cipal, Mr. Spell, agriculture instruction, extended a wel come to the group. The theme for the meeting was "Developing Concepts In Teaching Home Economics." The topic for discussion was "Planning Classroom Instruc tion on Family Relationship. Health and Home Safety for the Preparation for Marriage and Home Making." These discussions were led by Mrs. Poltin Collin*, Person-Albion Miss Edith Spirey, Spaulding High School, Spring Hopo; Mrs. Juanita Powell, Nash Central High School; Mrs. Lillie Dickerson and Mra. L. R McGrier, J. R. Hawkins High School, Warrenton; Mrs. Oohelia Davis, North Warren High School, Wise. Remarks were made~by the area super visor, Miss August White. This group is composed of Homemaking Teachers from Granville, Vance, Franklin, Nash and Warren counties. The meetings are held under the auspices of the State De partment of Public Instruc tion. Nickels for Know-How funds contributed to the de velopment of the bulk curing method for curing flue-cured tobacco. Mrs. A. D. Harris' Kindergarten Class plays spooks on downtown visit last Thursday. East Franklin Straat Warrenton MISS EVELYN BOYD Manson Native Will Be New Extension Agents' Secretary Miss Evelyn Boyd, 18, of Manson has been employed as secretary to the Negro Ex tension Agents, succeeding Miss Delores Garrett who has served in the capacity for the past six years. Announcement of Miss Boyd's employment was made yesterday by L. C. Cooper, Negro Agricultural Agent. He said that Miss Garrett would leave around Dec. 1 to assume her duties as secretary to the State Home Demonstration Agent at A. uc T. College in Greensboro. Cooper also announced that Miss Maretta Smallwood, who has served as assistant Negro home economics agent in Warren County since January, has been promoted to Home Agent in Bertie County where she will assume her duties around the first of the year. Miss Boyd, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Boyd, Sr., of Manson, is a graduate of North Warren High School and Durham Business College. She has been a NHA report er, 4-H Club vice-president, and science club secretary. Last summer she served as assistant secretary at Staff Builders, New York, where she performed typing and shorthand.
