Order Of Rainbow Meets At Norlina The Chahofai Assembly No. 43. Order of Rainbow, for airls at Norlina held its reg ular meeting on Monday nieht. December 9. when three new members. Sandra Cook and Kay Floyd of Nor lina and Joan Riggan of Macon, were initiated into the Order The initiation was conduct ed by Mrs. Mildred Wilson, mother advisor; Miss Mary Ccker. advisor: and other of ficers. A Christmas party followed the meeting. Christmas carols ?were-played while the mem bers and guests enjoyed re freshments. consisting of lime punch, cake squares, peanuts and pecan halves. A holiday motif was used in decorations and refreshments. Four Eastern Stars and two Masons were present for the meeting. PTA To Meet The Norlina PTA will meet in the music room of the school on Monday night. De cember 16. at 8 o'clock. Circle 1 Meets At Home Of Mrs. Hege Mrs. C. I.. Hcge was hos tess to members of Circle No. 3 of the Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Nor lina Methodist Church Mon day night at her home on North Street with ten mem bers present. Mrs. Walter Newman, cir cle chairman, led the de votional period by giving a Christmas reading, "F o r Christmas Is." A Christmas plover was also given. "If We Had Been In Beth lehem" was the topic of the program niven by Mrs. Leigh Traylor, assisted by Mesdames !lc;;e. Shirley Hawks. Linda llundlev. Katherine Farrar, and .1. n Parvin. The group s.-.n'T old but unfamiliar Christmas carols. Christmas punch, decoratcd party cakes and nuts were served by the hostess. The Mcae home was festive with lovely Christinas decorations. Mrs. Parvin will entertain the circle in January and Mrs. Frances Knight will have chargc of the program. Mrs. J. W. Two Church Circles Hold Joint Meetings The Lottie Moon and Annie Armstrong WMS Circles join ed together for their Christ mas meeting in the home of Mrs. G. A. Daeke. Jr., on Monday evening. Mrs. R. H. Fuller, guest speaker, opened the meeting with Bible reading, using the theme of Christianity in the Home. The Christianity of the Kennedy family was com pared with our own prayer life. Mrs. Fuller also related "The l.ife of M. Thcron Ran kin. 1920-1954. a noted Christ ian worker in China. Each chairman gave reports. The croup voted to contribute to two unfortunate residents of our community at Christmas. Al>o each member present brought Christmas wrapped pacakages to be sent to the Child's Care Center at Chero kee. The meeting was dimiss ed v.iih prayer by Mrs. Emily Bobbin. For the highlight of the so cial hour numbers were drawn and gifts exchanged. Mrs. Daeke and Mrs C I. Nance, joint hostesses, invited the guests into the dining loom for Christmas punch, fruit cake, candy, nuts and open-face sandwiches. Christmas decorations and burning red candles decorated the Daeke home for the occa sion. Mrs.Wyckoff Hostess To Lola-Sue Circle Ten members of the I.ola Sue Circle gathered at the home of Mrs A. S. Wyckoff on Monday at 12:30 o'clock for a covered disn luncheon and their December meeting. The home was tastefully dec oiated in keeping with the Christmas season. Following the luncheon, the group returned to the living room where Mrs. J. \V. Ar nold opened the meeting with a devotional, using as her sub ject, "Keeping Christ in Christmas." Mrs. L. W. Bow ers.. program chairman, gave the biography of M. T. Ran kin, after which Mrs. G, B. Harris gave a reading, "Jesus, My Son." This was Mary's story as told by John of the birth, crucifixion and resur rection of Jesus. Mrs. R. H. Fuller dismissed the group with prayer. Mrs. Bowers will entertain the circle in January. Woman's Club Holds Meet At Club House The Norlinn Woman's Clull mot last Wednesday night at tl>i- club house with MeS' dames T. W. Stallings. Eliza belli I.ee and Henry Wiggins r.s hostess. Mrs. Alicc Stultz president, presided over a brief business session at which time the rlnh voted to copaii the club house roof. The de votional was given by Mrs 1 M. Weaver. The program consisted of a Christmas Decoration Show nresontod hv Mrs. W. K. Del bride. The tradition of red and green were the most pop ular colors carried out. The show included decorations lie "inning with the outside door r>nd continning throughout the home. The mantle was lovely with a red poinsctta tree using magnolia for the green ery. red candles and red vel vet hows A gold-spraved Iree bearing red roses with cold glitter stood attractively ir. one corner of the room. Many beautiful standing and '?nn^ing pieces, made by Mrs. Delbridgo, were displayed. The refreshment table was simple and eve-eatching with ied and green, which was car ried out in decorations and refreshments. Around 35 were served Christmas punch, decorated cake squares, star and Christ mas wreath sandwiches, nuts and mints. cember 9, in the Home Eco nomics Department. Thirteen were in attendance. Santa Claus To Visit Post Office Santa Claus will make his annual visit to the Norlina Post Office Monday. Dec. 16. from 2:30 p. m. to 5 p. m Postmaster W. K. Delbridge has asked that the prc-school age children come in between 2 30 and 3:30. Favors will be given by Santa Claus to all those attending.
