Zion Home Dem.Club Holds July Meeting The Zion Home Demonstra tion Club held its July meeting on Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. J. F. White with eight members attending and Mrs.E . E. Hecht, president, presiding. The devotional and prayer was led by the hostess. lite lesson for the month on "Landscaping" was given by Miss Emily Balllnger, home economics extension agent. She made helpful suggestions on transplanting and pruning and other features of landscaping. Mrs. Hecht and Mrs. C. P. Rooker, who represented the Zion Club at the North Carolina Homemakers meeting at State College on July 8, where they Joined with other Warren Coun ty women in modeling 1914 costumes, commented on the meeting* During the business session Mrs. J. D. Holtzman and Mrs. J. W. Arnold were appointed to serve on the nominating com mittee. It was announced that the club members and their families will meet at the pond at the home of Mrs. J. D. Holtzman at 6 p. m. on August It for a picnic supper and social hour. During the social hour Mrs. White served ice cream sodas, delicious assorted homemade cookies and roasted pecans. Richards Speaker At Ruritan Meeting David L. Richards, adminis trator of Warren General Hos pital, was the guest speaker at the regular monthly meet ing of the Norllna Ruritan Club on Tuesday night. He discussed the proposed expansion of the Wsrran General Hospital. The meeting was held at the Norllna Clubhouse with the president, William Hides, pre and 40 attending. Other present were the Rev. Kelly was host ess to members of the Nor llna Bridge Club at her home last Thursday evening, when high score prize was present ed to Mrs. John Clarke, second high to Mrs. Edna Newman and low to Mrs. J. W. Mayfleld. The bingo prize was presented to Mrs. Florence Held. After an evening of play the hostess served homemade ice cream, cake, candy and nuts. COOK-OUT SUPPER The Zlon Young Adult Fel lowship enjoyed a cook-out sup' per last Wednesday night a the Zlon Church Educations Building. This fellowship meet ing will take the place of th< regular monthly meeting foi July. Mrs. Bobby Taylor Honored At Shower Mrs. Bobby Taylor, the form er Linda Sue Davis of Norllna, was honored at a shower In the home of Mrs. John Felts of Alton last Friday evening. Hostesses were Mrs. Sue Dlllard of Ral eigh and Mrs. Ray Puryear of Boydton, Va. The honoree was pi eseuled a corsage of sweet peas upon arrival. A pink and white color scheme was used. Orange blossom cookies, mints, nuts and punch were served to the 25 guests attending from Raleigh, Boyd ton, Va., Norllna, Macon and Inez. Mrs. Taylor received many nice and useful gifts. Blanton, pas tor, and the Rev. Julian A. Llndsey of th e First Metho dist Church In Lexington. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Menden hall Burke of Glbsonville and the groom Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Neauman Brown of Littleton. Wedding music was rendered by Wallace H. Owen, tenor, of Glbsonvllle, and Melvln Butler, organist, of Burlington. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a dress of silk organza and peau d'Ange lace. The bodice had short sleeves with a scoop neckline and was lace appllqued extend ing onto the skirt. The cum berbund was detailed with a front bow and small cabbage rose at the back. A full chapel train flowed from the bell skirt. Her headpiece was a fulleoith lace edged mantilla attached to a pillbox which wax appll qued with lace and encrusted with tiny seed pearls. Her only accessory was a single strand of pearls, a gift of the of white roses Interspersed with stephanotis. Miss Barbara Abble Burke, sister of the bride, of Glbson vtlle, was maid of honor, and matron of honor was Mrs. Mack N. Ballard, Jr., of Charlotte, college roommate of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Ellse Blair Burke, sister of thebrlde, of Glbsonvlllo, Mrs. Russell J. Trask, Balnbrldge Island, Washington, Miss Danna Story of Greensboro and Mrs. Rich ard Nance of Leaksvllle, all cousins of the bride. All the attendants wore floor length dresses of peppermint green silk organza with fitted princess bodice with elbow length sleeves. The oack of the neckline featured a bow with hemline streamers, They wore matching headpieces with small front bows with short lace man tillas. They carried red roses with Ivy, tied with red satin bows with streamers. The groom's father was best man and ushers were Robert L. Brown, brother of the groom, of Wake Forest, Worth J. Over man of Glbsonville, Ronald W. Parks of Greensboro, John Boyd Robinson of Thomasvllle, and Joseph Phillips of Glbsonville. The mother of the bride wore a pink lace dress and the groom's mother wore a white linen dress embroidered In blue and each wore an orchid cor sage.
