JERRY MONROE BARNES Linda Joyce Adams And Jerry Barnes Wed The Macon Baptist Church, Macon, N. C., was the setting on Sunday afternoon, August 30, for the wedding of Miss Linda Joyce Adams to Jerry Monroe Barnes. Vows were repeated before an altar banked with fern and lighted tapers with the Rev. Grady J. Haynes officiat ing. The bride Is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Adams of Rt. 1, Norllna, and the bride groom Is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar G. Barnes, Jr., of Raleigh. Given In marriage by her ?father, the bride wore a for mal gown of silk organza over taffeta which featured a scoop neckline outlined with Alencon lace motifs re-embroldered with baby seed pearls and Ire descent sequins. The gown also had long sleeves which taper ed Into points over the hands, a princess line front with bell sides and a shepherdess back ending In a chapel sweep. Mrs. Wallace Herring of Wil son, cousin of the bride, was matron of honor and brides maids were Sue Wall of Roles vllle, Vlcki Haywood of Raleigh, Faye Clark of Warrenton and Nancy Wilson of Macon, Junior {bridesmaid was Shirley Adams, cousin of the bride. Mrs. Herring wore a floor length dress of fiesta pink with short sleeves, scoop neckline, fitted bodice and a bow at the ?fjhe waist from whicha floor length panel fell. She car-" ried a bouquet of carnations and Pom poms in contrasting shades of pink and lavendar. Bridesmaids were attired in dresses of pink orchid Identical to that of the matron of honor and all wore matching head pieces of a single rose to which a short veil was attach ed and carried matching bou quets. Mr. Barnes Served his son as best man. Ushers were Kirby Miller of Charlotte, cousin of the groom, Leon Mayo, Larry Robertson and Gordon Barnes of Raleigh, Bobby Maynard of Henderson and Dickie Mllllnder of Wilson. Mrs. Adams chose for her daughter's wedding a sheath of white silk and rayon, trimmed In rose melon with matching ac cessories and a white orchid corsage. The mother of the bridegroom was attired in a dress of blue silk and wore matching accessories and a white orchid corsage. Mrs. Merl Plckerson and Mrs t.m, Adams, grandmothers of the bride, and Mrs. M. A. Morris and Mrs. O. G. Barnes, grand mothers of the groom, all at tended and wore white caraa tion corsages. The bride is a graduate of John Graham High School in Warrenton and also attended Automation Institute, Hard bargers Business College in Raleigh, she is employed by the City of Raleigh as a tabulator equipment operator. The bride groom is attending Hard barger's Business College and is employed by Nationwide In s"rf"ce Co., m Raleigh as assistant file supervisor. Following a wedding trip to the Great Smoky mountains the couple is now residing at 2311 Yancey St., Raleigh. RECEPTION immediately following the double ring ceremony, the par ents of the bridal couple er tertalned at a reception held at the Norllna Woman's Club. The bridal table was cover ed with a mint green cloth draped with net and fastened With nosegays at each corner. Mrs. Earl Becht greeted guests and directed them to the receiving line, after which Mrs. Gordon Barnes registered guests and directed them to the refreshment table. LUNCHEON Preceding the wedding, a luncheon was given at the home of the bride by her parents for the wedding party and guests. The table was covered with a white cloth and centered with an arrangement of pink asters, tuberoses and glads. The menu consisted of ham, fried chicken, potato salad, pickles, lettuce and tomato, co coanut and chocolate cake and pecan pie. After-Rehearsal Party Immediately following the Barnes-Adams wedding re | hearsal on Saturday night the parents of the bride entertained at an after-rehearsal party In [ their home. Approximately 35 guests enjoyed refreshments of I party sandwiches, soft drinks, | potato chips and pickles. LINGERIE SHOWER Miss Linda Adams, bride elect of August 30, was honor ed at a lingerie shower In Raleigh on August 13 with Misses Sue Wall and Nancy Johnson asTiostesses. Guests enjoyed lime Ice punch, cake squares and nuts I served from a table covered in a white embroidered cloth and bearing a floral arrangement of ! white glads and mums Inter spersed with greenery and flanked by white tapers. MISCELLANEOUS SHOWER A miscellaneous shower was given for Miss Linda Adams, bride-elect of August 30, in the Baptist Church In Macon on August 14. Hostesses were Mrs. Judy Clark, Mrs. Faye May nard, Mrs. Katherlne Robinson and Miss Nancy Wilson. Ap proximately 15 guests were served lime ice punch, cake squares, mints and cheese straws. Musical Program Held By Auxiliary The American Legion Auxi liary Unit #25 met on Thurs day evening In the Social Room of the Warrenton Presbyterian Church. September has been deslgnat- ] ed by the National Organization \ as "Music Month." A musical . program with Mrs. Edward j Hunter In charge was present- I ed by Mrs. Jimmy Roberts, ' Mrs. Norman Bullock, Mrs. s Leonard Daniel and Mrs. B1U j Connell with Mrs. Leonard Dan- S lei at the piano. The entire group was Invited to sing the hymn of j the month, "Eternal Father, < Strong to Save." The president, Mrs. Scott Gardner, presided at the bus iness meeting. Mrs. Bill Con- | nell reported on the picnic which the local auxiliary provided for j patients at the Durham Veter- j ans Hospital on August 12. Fifty I patients and nurses were serv- I ed a barbecue supper on the 1 hospital grounds by Mr. and 1 Mrs. Connell and Commander 1 and Mrs. Bill Neal. Thirty- j I five paper back books were given to the patients. More books are needed by the hos pital patients. Mr. And Mrs. Harris Have Outdoor Dinner Mr. and Mrs. Frank Harris entertained at an outdoor din ner on their lawn Sunday and Dr. Wayne Mohorn of chapel Hill returned thanks. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Holloway and children of Newport News, Va., Mr. and i Mrs. John Champion of Roles ' vllle, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bar rlnger and children of Fairfax, jVa-, Dr. and Mrs. Wayne Mo horn of Chapel Hill, Mr. and Little Garden Club Meets On Tuesday The Warrenton Little Garden Club met In the Fireside Room of the Methodist Church on Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock with Mrs. Richard Cole man as hostess. Refreshments were served from a beautifully appointed table upon arrival of the 20 members present. Mrs. F. P. Whitley, presi dent, presided over the meet ing and discussed plans for the coming year. A most Interest ing program entitled, "Around The Calendar With Flowers," was given by Mrs. Joseph J. Allen of Warrenton. Mrs. Mike Mitchell of Raleigh, Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Births Mr. and Mrs. Macon Myrlck of Norllna announce the birth of a daughter In Warren Gen eral Hospital on September 4. Mrs. Myrlck Is the former Miss Margaret Tucker of Vaughan. Mr. and Mrs. Travis Proctor af Littleton announce the birth of a son, Marlon Keith, In Roa noke Rapids Hospital on Sep tember 2. Mrs. Proctor Is the former Miss Agness Louise Crawley of Littleton. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin E. John son of Roanoke Rapids announce the birth of a daughter, Lorl Denlse, on August 28 In Roa noke Rapids Hospital. Mrs. Johnson Is the former Miss Glenda Pulley of Littleton. Mrs: Rosa B. Shearin and daughters, Miss Mabel Shearin, Mrs. Lillian Raleigh and Mrs. Elizabeth Miller of Washington, D. C., visited Mr. and Mrs. Simon Gardner and other rela tives here during the past week end. Garden Club Meets At Home Mrs. Davis The Warrenton Garden Club held Its first fall meeting In the home of Mrs. Boyd Davis with good attendance. Mrs. Clyde Rodwell, new president, presided and displayed a "Cer tificate of Honor" presented to | the club for outstanding ser I vice to the North Carolina Gar den Club, bearing the signature ! of Mrs. R. D. McMillan, state j president. A revelw of the new year [ book revealed many Interesting i speakers and activities, first of which will be a tour by chartered bus to Raleigh In October and visits to points of historical and civic Interest In the Capitol, with Mrs. Claude Bowers as a guide.
