EMMANUEL POOLE PEGRAM Norwood-Pegram Are Spoken On Sunday On Sunday, November 15, at four o'clock in the afternoon at the Inez Baptist Church In Inez, Miss Peggy Ann Norwood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wil lie Lee Norwood of Areola, be came the bride of the Rev. Em manuel Poole Pegram of Rocky Mount, son of the Rev. and Mrs. McKlnney Pegram of Franklln ville. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Mc Klnney Pegram, father of the groom, and the Rev. Jack Wil son, pastor of the bride. A program of nuptial music was rendered by Mrs. Carl Mc Gregor of Rocky Mount, or ganist, and Mr. Bruce Ayscue of Winston-Salem, soloist. Mr. Ayscue, uncle of the bride, sang, "Whither Thou Goest", "We'll Walk With God" and "The Wed ding Prayer." Mrs. Beaufort Abrams of Pilot served as mis tress of ceremonies. The chancel of the church bore decorations of gladioli, chrysanthemums, ferns and white tapers. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of white bridal satin appliqued with alencon lace. The full skirt was pleated and extended into a chapel train. The fit ted bodice featured a scoop neckline and tiny self-covered buttons. Her shoulder-length veil of illusion fell from a crown of pearls and lace. She carried a white Bible topped with an orchid. The bride's dress was fashioned and de signed by Miss Elaine Pegram of Henderson, sister of the groom. Miss Linda Norwood, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a stree-length dress of azalea pink crystal peau de sole with matching shoes and headpiece of a cabbage rose. Her bouquet was of pale pink carnations. Bridesmaids were Miss El aine Pegram of Henderson, Miss Zeloma Clark of Louis burg, Miss Mary Catherine Joy ner and Mrs. Richard Saun ders, both of Rocky Mount. Their dresses were of coral crystal peau de sole and they carried bouquets of deep pink carnations. Junior bridesmaids were Miss Kitty Norwood, sister of the bride, and?Misses Shelia Wynne of Louisburg and Vickie Smith of Raleigh, cousins of the bride. Their dresses were of pale pink crystal peau de sole and they carried pale pink bouquets of carnations. Little Miss Bridgette Flem ing of Areola was flower girl. Her dress was of pale pink and she carried a basket of carnation petals and scattered them In front of the bride Master Gregg Wilson of Inez was ring bearer. Mr. Durwood Pegram of Bunn, brother of the bride groom, served as best man Ushers were Willie Lee Nor wood, Jr., brother of the bride, Jimmy Harris of Inez, Donely Joyner and Richard Saunders both of Rocky Mount. The bride's mother was at tired in a dress of sheer wool In dark carnation with matching hat. She wore black accessor ies and white gloves. Her cor sage was a white orchid. Mrs. Pegram wore royal blue wool crepe with a blue beaded hat. A white orchid was pinned at her shoulder. Mrs. Ernest Ayscue, grand mother of the bride, wore a black suit with a corsage of white carnations. Mrs. O'Neal grandmother of the groom, wore navy crepe and white car nations. _ Following the reception the couple left for a wedding trip to unannounced points. For traveling the bride chose a green tweed suit. a brown ur pillbox hat, skin shoes and bag completed her costume She wore the orchid lifted from her Bible. The bride is a graduate of John Graham High School and Chowan College. The bride groom Is a graduate of West Edgecombe High School, Camp bell College, and Wake Forest College. ' RECEPTION Immediately following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Willie Lee Norwood entertained at aj reception at the home of Mr. I and Mrs. George Davis. Good-byes were said to Mrs. Jack Wilson. After-Rehearsal Party Miss Norwood and Mr. Pe gram were honored at an after rehearsal party at the Areola Community Building on Satur day evening with 50 attending. The parents of the br.lde en tertained for the couple. The building was tastefully decorated throughout using the pink and white motif. The table bore an arrangement of white bridal flowers and burning tap ers. Mrs. McKlnney Pegram, mother of the groom, poured punch. Mrs. Roy Smith and Mrs. Carl Fleming assisted Mrs. Norwood in serving cake squares, nuts, mints and pret zel sticks. Miss Norwood was attired In a pale pink satin dress and wore a white carnation cor sage. Miscellaneous Shower A miscellaneous shower was held at the Areola Community Building on Thursday night, Oc tober 29, at 8 o'clock in hoqor of Miss Peggy Norwood, bride elect. Miss Wollett Gives Illustrated Talk At DAR Meeting Miss Anna Wollett of Lit tleton, world traveler, was guest speaker last Saturday, November 14, when Mrs. W. A. Graham entertained members of the Warren Chapter, Daught ers of the American Revolution. Old-fashioned Cochet roses, white sasanquas and chrysan themums, In shades of pink and red, were used for decorations. The luncheon table was cen tered with a silver tureen of red roses. Miss Wollett, who has travel ed extensively, shared with the DAR Chapter some interesting experiences of her recent trip to the Far East -- including the countries of Japan, Korea, China, Malaysia, Burma, India, Kashmere, Pakistan, Afghanis tan, Iran and Iraq. Of special interest were her pictures of Japan's Peace Park (in homb struck Hiroshima); an orphan age in China, sponsored by Dr. Cavltt Clarke, an American, well-known for his great con cern for orphan children; the 1 rubber plantations of Malaysia; the famous Taj Mahal and the "Kingdom of Swat" with its I beautiful flowers ? also its I fields of poppies, grown for | opium producers. During a short business ses | sion, Mrs. W. R. Woodall, Crossnore chairman, reported that five boxes of clothing, etc., | had been sent to Crossnore j School for mountain children I since February 1 -- two of the boxes, generously donated by friends interested in the school.
